Looking to purchase a new 5th wheel (1st time buyer).  I?m interested in any thoughts about Dixie RV in Hammond, LA or Steve?s RV in Lacombe, LA.  I?d prefer to buy from where I would take it for service.

Thanks

I would check with Berryland Campers in Ponchatoula, LA. I purchased my PUP from them and found that they were good to work with and had no problems with some service items that needed to be done.

Welcome.  Being new to RV, I highly encourage you to reconsider buying new.  Many Many season veterans buy new, and still have months of issues and warranty work to have done, and they know what they are doing. (no disrespect).  But honestly, if you can find a used unit, the typical warranty issues will be corrected, and you will save a ton, so you can buy more toys for those grandkids  ;)  The RV industry and Dealers just don't even come close to operating like car dealers on warranty work, not even close.

Welcome to the Forum!

X3 to the used comments.  I got my first "real" RV  (Had a pop up before) a year ago.  2009 FW cost $26K and it sold new for $73K.  It took some shopping, but is exactly what we wanted and in excellent condition.

To answer the OP?s question; my dealings with Dixie left me thinking them untrustworthy.

I purchased a new 2018 Class C from Dixie last year. Flew all the way from RI to do so. They had the cheapest price in the country for the floor-plan we wanted. While the communication and responsiveness before the signing of the paperwork was prompt, a few follow up issues (nothing coach related) after the sale left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

I would consider purchasing from them again should we ever find ourselves in a position to do so however.
