"Low DEF" warning

I got this message on my dash roughly 30 minutes after startup yesterday. We were heading home from a long weekend trip. I just added 2.5 gallons prior to setting out on the trip. The DEF level on my dashboard actually showed full and the mechanical gauge at the tank showed 3/4, however there was a red light lit up on the tank gauge.
I pulled over as soon as possible, shut the motor off for a few minutes then started back up. Message was gone and red light on tank gauge was off.
Made it home with no other issues.
Any ideas?

Try rebooting

Or maybe a faulty sensor on the tank? If you get the chance, crawl under in and find any wires coming from the tank and give them a little tug to check for a snug connection.

All were tight. Maybe just one of those "thangs"!
I'll keep an eye on it.

Can you check error codes on your dash read out Jeff?  If you can check for a code, if there is one there may actually be a wiring or sensor issue. If no code was set, then I would guess "one of those thangs".
