Apple has released Security Update 2005-007 to correct several vulnerabilities affecting Mac OS X and the Safari web browser. These vulnerabilities have a wide range of impacts, the most severe of which could allow an attacker to gain access to your computer.

Hmmm, sounds like the MAC Attack is happening.  Just ain't nobody safe anymore.

Maybe Mr Jobs will be offering overpriced firewalls now.

That is just flat wrong. As yet there are zero viruses/worms affecting OS 10. Apple has been fairly prompt at issuing these sorts of patches. As you can tell from the title, this is # 7 so far this year.

A free firewall has been part of OS 10 from the git-go.

Even Bill Gates provides a free firewall with Windows.  :)

OS X is just Unix with a pretty face :)

Ned,

Here is one for Unix:

A vulnerability has been reported that could let remote malicious users cause a Denial of Service. A remote user can send e-mail containing special message headers to cause the application to take an excessive amount of time to check the message.

A fixed version (3.0.4) is available at:

I never said Unix was without flaws, and they would also be exposed in OS X.  In some respects, OS 9 was more secure than OS X is.  And any machine can be taken down with a DoS attack.  Such an attack is independent of the OS.

Even Linux has had it's share of security patches as well.  There is no safe place anymore :)
