I got bored on this quarantine so i decided to make something to benefit us and our travel trailer.  Since we downsized we are lacking conveniant accessible storage.  It is made out of 1/2" plywood and some 1x1 bracing.  The slide rails are rated for 400lbs.  a little overkill but I wanted to make sure it was sturdy.  It comes in around 40lbs. the rails alone weigh more than the wood structure i built.  Since i moved the handle on the door i have to figure out how to blend in the 2 holes from where the handle was previously, i put some spackle in them, now i will have to experiment with some markers.

I did something similar in a 2002 Dolphin LX motorhome. It has nice storage under the dinette seats, but only one side had an access door. The other side had an electrical junction box on the floor, so I guess they didn't want people jamming things in. I relocated the j-box to one side and protected it better, then cut a door in the end of the seat. Didn't do a sliding drawer cause I felt it would cost too much usable space. We used it for bulky objects.

I did this on one of our benches.....This reminds me I need to get the other one done.

I just did the same thing to my dinette seat, which had no door at all. We had to pull the cushion up everytime we wanted something. Those self closing tracks are the ticket too for draws facing front to back. I made mine the complete height of the opening so I could stack stuff up and take adavantage of the entire height without stuff falling over. I did mine in the width way so that I could still have room for bulk box or a case or two of bottled water in the seat beside the drawer. good job and makes sense for the deep no man;s land area that you have to dig into everytime you want to retrieve something.

Beautiful job Ccoe1. Love your flooring too. We need to try this. It is hard to get to under bench.

Thanks,  the colors in this travel trailer is a nice change.  our last travel trailer was an '05 and it had the ugly neutral linoleum and golden oak cabinetry.
