I believe the ferries weren't running for a couple of seasons, but did start back up again as shown in Rene's link. There was conflicting information on various travel websites whether they were in operation or not.

I don;t know if the Staff split out this topic since it was on a very old string or if the OP posted twice, I initially posted on Stu's string, and here it my response.  FYI, the service was cancelled then re-instated using a lease US military catamaran.  It takes 18 wheelers, so it should have no difficulty with your RV.

I think it is closed for the winter, but will start again in the spring.  Here is their web site:  https://www.ferries.ca/thecat/  There is also a ferry from Saint John New Brunswick that I think runs all year, here is their link: https://www.ferries.ca/nb-ns-ferry/

Whene were there last August, they were running.  but the cost was prohibitive.  $600 RT.  We added  day tp our itinerary and drove.  It was cheaper, and the roads and New Brunswick provincial campground on the Bay of Fundy was very nice.

x2 We looked into taking the cat ferry a few years back, but the cost was quite high. It was much cheaper to just drive. The bay of Fundy is a marvel. You wont want to miss any of it.

X3. Visited NS many years back, when the previous ferry service was running as a ?red-eye?. Although kind of expensive, it was worth it because it effectively added two days to our vacation. I?ve looked at the new prices and we?ll definitely be driving next time we go.

If you ever plan on taking the ferry, it looks like this might well be the last year of operation.  US Border Patrol are requiring major upgrades that the city of Portland are not prepared to fund.  They are negotiating to see if vehicles can be precleared in Canada, but so far there is no agreement.  I've attached a link to an article in today's Halifax paper that spells it our a lot more detailed: http://thechronicleherald.ca/novascotia/1522717-u.s.-customs-issue-puts-yarmouth-ferry-service-at-risk

We took the CAT ferry back to Maine from Yarmouth NS this Sept.  Cost one way was $750 US - our truck and 5th wheel is 45' long all together.

We had been in Canada for two months, and were anxious to get back to see what the hurricane was going to do to our house in Florida.

Another option is to go to St. John New Brunswick and catch a much cheaper ferry across the Bay of Fundy to Digby NS.

we took the ferry form Digby to St Johns it was great i was towing  a 37 ft fifth wheel short trip to us boarder stopped at Sunset Point Campground
