Has anyone stayed at any of the campgrounds around the Mark Twain Lake in Missouri? We will be traveling cross country from California to KY in June/July and this will be on our way during our drive from Mt. Rushmore to KY and I was just wondering if anyone would suggest anywhere to stay to relax, fish and possibly do some hiking.

Thanks,
Josh

Look at Indian Creek CC. It's our favorite. COE CC large sites some FHU. The best sites only have electric. Some hiking trails but not extensive. Close to marina. Great fishing lake, not crowded. Easy to get to. Enjoy

I know it's much farther south than Mark Twain, but Hawn State Park (off I-55) is really pretty and Pickle Creek nearby also has some great hiking.

Trail of Tears (also off I-55) has nice hiking and Mississippi River overlook, but dang, the campground.  Sits right on off the river and the train track. Trains trains trains all night.  WOOO WOOOO.
