Memory foam mattress

We need to replace the mattress in our trailer as it's a back's death wish even with a memory foam topper.  I've read many things from Amazon, Walmart and Costco but was wondering what the real world recommended.  We have the short queen.

Our Tempurpedic at home is great but much too pricey and big for the trailer.  Has anyone purchased foam and cut it to fit?  I read that at least a 4 # density is required.

In our unit, we had just enough room length that we put a standard queen high density 4" foam on the platform. We had this cut with a taper to make the head about 2 in higher than the foot. Helps if you have a hiatus hernia like most of us do as we get older.

On top of that we put a 2 inch memory foam. This is the same setup that we have in our bedroom at home, and we just love it.

We replaced the mattress in our tt with memory foam we got from walmart.com.
It's a 12 inch thick mattress for RVs . around 300.00 dollars.just search rv mattress on
Walmart.com they have a good selection

We also have the memory foam from Walmart. The regular queen works for ours. It does not interfer with the slide it is soft enough to compress against cabinet if that is how yours is set up. We liked them enough we now have thrown away our $1500 mattress at home and use it there also.

Walmart recommendations have been mentioned here before, but they offer many brands/models. Do either of you have a link to the ones you have & like?

They also have 10" and 12". We have the 12" at home.

Thank you all for the recommendations.  It's hard to spend the money when you haven't tested the product.  We bought a memory foam topper from Camper World that I read recommendations on but it slides more than a kindergartner at recess and still allows the springs of the original mattress to reveal themselves by aggravating my nerves throughout the night.

One wonders why the manufacturers can't install quality products when they build their trailers.

Thanks again.

DDevers I've had similar unpleasant experiences with memory foam. Not sliding, but too hard and too hot. It also makes me hesitant about buying online with no trial period, but the prices are hard to ignore.

If you are worried about one being to hot you can get one with a cool gel foam layer on
top to keep you cool as you sleep. mine is not hot to me but is to my wife.
Wish I knew that before buying I would have bought the cool gel one so she would be more
Comfortable.
