Finally got the trailer out of the storage lot ice, snow and... mud.  Stainless steel sink, water heater 110v element, TPMS and roof vent hood installed.  We?re off to Mesquite next week for the season shake down road trip.  A different scenario from our usual boondocks camp.  No chain saw, generator or gas jugs.

We have a spot reserved at the Solstice Motorcoach Resort for 4 nights.  The only bad reviews concern their non-refundable $25 reservation deposit.  Our review to follow.  ?Pet friendly? is one of our concerns.

While there we?ll check out possible storage sites for next winter.  The air conditioner has been tested OK since the forecast highs next week top 95 degrees  ;)

My concern is that by their website it is for "luxurious Motorcoaches" and does not seem to appreciate travel trailers.

$25 non-refundable not a big deal, heck I had to put $100 down on a site non-refundable, and we didn't go.  The did give us the option of using it for a year, but we won't likely be back there in that time frame.

$43 a nite for my coach and there was only 1 site left that would work here at the Mesquite place.  We have never stopped in Mesquite other than for fuel, maybe this year.

I lived within 36 miles of Mesquite for 14 years, we would fly there on Saturday morning for breakfast with small groups.. Really nothing there unless you REALLY LOVE casino's.  The Black brothers own most of it (this is no condemnation just fact).>>>Dan

I looked at the site and did not get that impression, no age requirements, and the reservation has all kinds of RV's listed.  Heck, based on the site, the place does not seem all that lux to begin with, still new, still adding on.

No worries, lots of assorted rigs.  The spots are double wide with full hook ups.  Gravel and easy to level.  We paid extra for a ?city view? spot which is back in.  Very nice view of the valley and very dog friendly.

I scraped ice off the Ram windshield yesterday morning at home.  After a fun drive down the Virgin River Gorge, I-15, the temperature in Mesquite was about 90 degrees.

Right, park expansion is ongoing.

IF you only need a night or two you can park behind the Virgin River Casino or the Eureka. No hookups.
Check out the Oasis Country Club for breakfast or  lunch. Open to the public. Other than that Casa Blanca is probably the best food.  Wedgies is a happy hour favorite.  Watch your speed in town. Speeding tickets are the high point of the PD day.

Thanks!  We have noticed that, unlike Salt Lake City, folks drive the speed limit.

Have fun!

Thanks, Jackie!

We?ve done some exploring and research around town.  It seems the area fills up quickly with snowbirds and several options, for us, are already not available.

So... With competitive rates, big spots (double wide), very dog friendly and a quiet location, we?ve reserved a spot here at Solstice beginning November 1st for 5 months.

The plan is to bring the camper south in early November, between winter storms, and use it for winter runaways.  We?ll bring our UTV for those trips and explore the numerous public land off road trails.  Lots more than casinos to do here  ;)

However, it?s too hot now.  Luckily our our camper air conditioner is up to the task.  97 degrees F outside, so instead of cold weather management we?re dealing with the opposite!

Hi, Dan!

I?ve never flown into Mesquite although it was on my ?list?.  Wife and I sold our last airplane a year ago, so we do road trips now.

Too bad we don?t play golf. Lots of nice neighborhoods and lots of retirees.  Looks a lot like my 25 years in Florida  ;)

We have a UTV we?ll trailer down for winter runaways. Lots of that goes on.  In fact, we have a good friend who owns a home in Mesquite and has done a lot of off roading in the area.

Ps I?m still flying, just not my own.

Sounds fab. We will be in Wyoming at some point and in Death Valley end of October/early November before heading back to Vegas, so hopefully catch up at some point  :D

We?ll look forward to seeing you!  A boondocks camp is in the offing for July.

Do you base your rig in Vegas?

Another note about Mesquite:  Do not use cellphone while driving. One of our park neighbors got a ticket...

We store it in Boulder City.

We will be in the Tetons in June or July for around a month.....

A meet up in July, perhaps.  Our month of June will be spent trekking to the east.
