I know some of us are active or retired military. So to try and get the word out to as many people as possible I thought I'd post some information here. If Bob Zambenini is out there, could you please post some information on SMART.

There is a Yahoo group for military camping.

A very good web site for finding information on military FamCamps.

I just found out about an RV park that is proudly owned by a Vet. Campground is at exit exit 16 in Gallup, NM.  "USA RV Park"

Park is owned by a Marine vet and is always there keeping an eye on things. They advertise "FREE camping for active duty military."  Vets get a discount also.

Here is another good site for military campgrounds. It is an Army site, but list all of the campgrounds with information by state.

In case active duty or retired military people are interested, thought I'd let you know that the Ft. Meade, MD RV park gets a "2 thumbs up" from our family! The campground was clean, and the sites were very nice sized. There were both pull-through and back-in sites available. They also had a few cabins. We had a pull-through site for our 29' TT, it had a concrete area to park it on and also had an area boxed in where a tent could have been placed. There was a picnic table and fire ring provided in this box area. Roads were paved and there were bathhouses and a laundry available. The staff in the office were a little disorganized the first day we were there, but the next day a different crew of people were managing better. There is no early arrival/late departure available, but late arrivals were posted on the door of the office directing you to your assigned site. Friends on the site next to us had trouble with the 30amp connection for a while and couldn't get their a/c to run, but they finally got it to cooperate. The staff was happy to let us leave our TT unhooked in the parking lot in front of the office on Sunday while we went to our kids' swim meet, so we didn't have to drag it with us. We came back later and picked it up with no problems. Definitely make reservations if you want to give it a try. Enter through the commercial/truck delivery gate on Rt. 32 and plan extra time for the trailer to be searched by dogs, although for some reason they didn't subject us to it. We will definitely try it again!
