Senior RV full-time driving a 2007 Itasca 38J sun cruiser with a workhorse Vortech V8 340 hp engine and an Allison six speed, electronic overdrive transmission and developed a mystery driving south of El Paso on I 10 the engine. The engine began to mist. We stopped at Lordsburg contacted a mobile service who suggested replacing plugs and plug wires and they did we returned to I 10 improvement and no improvement was noted discussions with others in Kerrville, Texas advise the electronic component in the transmission could be at fault and directed to an Allison service center in San Antonio. Left the coach with SNS in San Antonio for transmission, inspection and repair SNS did a standard diagnostic review that reflected no codes and a complete transmission inspection found no problems have spent $5000 and still have a engine miss open to thoughts and advice.

Ok had that happen on my 8.1l Suddenlly I was hearing mis-fire (wife did not hear it but I sure did and the MPG showed it too )

Rodents had chewed PRIMARY wires.,. bit of tape and a couple plugs (Fouled) and no more misfire full MPG. I had a shop do the job for one thing they had the test gear (So do I now for some of it but they have stuff I don't)

Short story: Farm tractor would not start I grabbed a cheap VOM ($8.00 as I recall) and found the problem easily.. My brother who was working on it said "We have a meter back at school does the same thing for $1500" (I do admit some of what that meter does I used my mind for) Turns out it was the problem too.
