Monsoon rains and flash floods hit Quartzsite, Amboy

Facebook users are reporting Quartzsite was hit with 2" to 4" of rain within a couple of hours last night. Photos on Facebook show Main St. turned into a river and places like Silly Al's Pizza and Rice Ranch RV suffered mud and flood damage. I-10 closed due to flooding and debris at Exit 19. Main St. turned into a river and the office of the Quartzsite Rock and Gem Club floated away and wound up in the La Mesa RV lot across Main St.

A major water line break caused the Quartzsite water system to collapse. The town is without municipal water service.

Heavy rain was reported at Roy's in Amboy and Newberry Springs a couple of days earlier.

Hello, you can put Quartzsite Flooding in your search engine and see the results. Bad part is Silly AL's Pizza is closed until they notify of re-opening.

I bet with the flooding it will be bring out rattle snakes from their nests down below.

It has been rainy here too. With thunder storms and high winds, keeping me inside this motorhome more than I would like.

And Reno is worried about flash flooding in some areas.

I think the deserts of the Arctic will be fine in August.

But forget about the Antarctica deserts in August, That will be winter!

The destruction is pretty bad. The campground we are staying at this winter lost hundreds of feet of lovely Mexican brick walls along Kuehn street. They were going to add a swimming pool this fall, but I am guessing that is out the window now. Who has flood insurance in Quartzsite? Just not something you plan for. The dog park was near a wash and will need to be refunded. The pickle ball courts and the large shelter are still there, but need a lot of cleaning up. A few RVs were damaged/destroyed too.

Tough to see! They are also saying it may be a wetter winter there "super el nino".

A little more rain would be welcome to help keep the dust down
