Montrose, CO to Canon City, CO

Is driving from Montrose to Canon City on Hwy 50 advisable? Thinking about doing it in August.  Pulling a 39? fifth wheel

Hwy 50 is fine. You will cross Monarch Pass, but just watch your speed on the down hill side.
We've crossed on hwy 50 several times.

Try to avoid the weekend. The section from Salida to Canon City along the Arkansas River is twisty and scenic. Long lines of cars, motorcycles, etc build up trying to pass.  It is particularly bad on weekends/holiday afternoons.
