Title says it all.  What is your favorite mod. to your coach if any?  What would you add or put on your new coach if it did not come with it?  Can be anything.  This can be a wish list as well so lets hear everybodies ideas.

For me, since I bought mine used I have a couple of simple additions I want to do.

1.  One full width slide out tray for the basement since there are none.
2.  A basement freezer/ Fridg.  Its already wired for one.
3.  Outside entertainment center and portable HD projector screen for the HD football games at night.  I already have the PJ.
Maybe a LCD for day time viewing.
4.  Outdoor shower hook up.

I could go on and on.....

You next.

Direcway Internet Satellite dish on roof. (Minus 4000.00 switch that Russ has ;D)

Tough question - we've made quite a few improvements and all or at least somewhat important to us.  More or less in order of importance to us:

MaxxAir thermostat fan in bedroom ceiling - great for fresh air at night!
Pressure Pro tire pressure monitoring system
Increased size of battery bank with additional AGM battery
Added 2 KW modified sine inverter (now wish I had spent the $$ for pure sine)
Added small (150W) pure sine inverter to power cell phone charers, computer, etc. continuously
Some additional electrical outlets, both AC & DC
Modified some closet & galley shelves to get more storage space
Additional shelves in storage bays and also fishing rod storage tubes
Garmin Street Pilot 2620 GPS/map system
DVD player (only had VCR from factory)
Upgraded converter/charger for more capacity and better quality charging
Quality reading light over my recliner
Mood lights in ceiling

Changes/additions to date:

  • M&G air braking system for the toad.
  • Replaced one of the sofabeds with a desk, cabinets and Euro chair.
  • Windshield & side window screens.
  • Replaced regular mattress with dual-chamber air mattress.
  • PressurePro tire pressure sensors.
  • Roof mounted satellite internet dish.
  • Silverleaf engine monitoring system.
  • Blue Ox True Center steering stabilizer.
  • Drawers in lower half of bedroom closet.
  • Macerator sewer drain system.

Wish list/TBD:

  • Full-width/full extension slide trays in two storage bays.
  • Dash-mounted, full-extension computer drawer.
  • Replace both tube TVs with flat-screen TVs.
  • External tank monitor systems.
  • Laundry hamper.
  • Modify shower door from center hinge to side hinge.
  • Shoe racks.
  • Mount water filter system in utility bay in lieu of in-line filter(s).

Changes/additions to date:

Replaced the J couch with a desk, cabinets and Euro chair.
Windshield & side window screens.
Installed Cummins Road Relay engine/systems monitor
Roof mounted satellite internet dish.
PressurePro tire pressure sensors.
Davis Weather station
Replaced Direct TV receiver with Direct TV Tivo

OK, this comes from a newbee part time (weekend)  RVer with a used '98 Class A (and kids):

added on before delivery:
~outside shower (helps keep dirt/sand out of coach; also helps in boondocking to keep gray tanks low)

bought for first trip:
~adapter for my mp3 player to the existing cassette player.  also, dug out old cassettes!!

wished that I had added on before delivery, but couldn't afford at the time:
~rear view cameras for the "trailer full of toys" toad, and backing up help (more for the toad)
~leveling jacks
~built in inverter

on my wish list, but can live without for awhile or include in my next purchase:
~permanently mounted back TV (15" LCD)  (I bring my kitchen tv and hook it up after we arrive...not the same)
~automated leveling jacks (can live without, but will include on next purchase)
~built in inverter (can live without, but will include on next purchase)
~power pack for greater towing and climbing capacity for my V-8 engine (I live on the coast of the west coast, everything is uphill from here)

When I go full time I must add:
~Roaming Radio,TV, and Tevo technology
~the best surround sound
~interactive GPS and navigation system
~internet on demand (whatever that system may be in 12 years when I retire)

My wisdom as a used RV buyer is to purchase an RV that you can love in it's current state.
Spend a few dollars for personal improvements, but don't spend a fortune bringing it up to date.

Unless you are an electrician, plumber, painter, welder, mechanic, and all around handy kind of girl/guy with lots of time on your hands....

It is cheaper to buy a more recent used RV that you can drive away in tomorrow, can truly enjoy,  and includes most of what you want, than to buy any lesser, older, or smaller model and try to bring it up to new standards.

Now lets see:

Replaced dinette with Table
New Computer Desk
New recliner
Pressure Pro
Electric Power cord rewind
New flat screen tv
M&G Braking
Wilson Cell Booster
Direcway Internet Satellite
Added closet shelves

So we started with a 1990 Winnebago Elandan that we bought (3rd owner) in spring of 2003.

Since then we've added or upgraded:

Banks PowerPack & TransCommand
(colour/night vision) back up camera
maxair (rain) vent
Garmin 2610 (which we can also use in our standard vehicle)
a better CB
a far better AM/FM/CD stereo system
tachometer
riteflow battery fillers
freedom scooter (2-wheeler)
holding tank heaters

Next week we're having installed:
a new furnace installed (present one is making nasty noises I can't wait until it breaks)
upgrade on the converter / charger
battery charging / monitoring doodad
shureflow smart sensor 4gpm water pump (don't like the noises the existing pump makes)
an autogo 550 folding 4-wheel scooter for my wife is on order (three week delivery time)

Later this month, or perhaps next month once I can get to a Camping World:
a folding dinner table
a hitch carrier for the scooters.

Ciao,

Doug

I think Sattalite TV is very likely the most common mod.  I've done it, most every coach I see has it, either roof mounted or tripod

I also just added a Tru-Center steering stabliizer which I think will become my favorite, so far I have less than 20 miles on it so I can't be sure but ask me again next week and I'll know :)

I also added an inverter/charger and 3rd battery bank (Rig comes with 2, one engine, one house) and towing stuff (Brake controller) and some electrical stuff (Special use) and ham radio gear (more to come in 2 weeks)

Fantastic Fan, with thermostat.  I put the one with the rain sensor in my first two truck campers, but in present one, it had the base model, I bought the thermostat version and swapped out the deck.  The canopy can be left in place.

Solar panel next in line.  I have one I can move around.

While we ordered a number of factory specials, are single most favorite was replacing one of the two bed sofas with two full reclining chairs.  One night the Admiral made me sleep on one.  It really was not a bad sleep!!

Started with a used ('97) Bounder.

Added:
8 new tires (I hope this tops the list of anyone who purchases a used RV)
Gibson headers and 3" exhaust
Banks TransCmd (not tested yet) just installed today
New CB
2.5K watt integrated inverter
Heavy Duty SMART Battery charger
2 additional 6V Batteries
Battery watering system for all house batteries
Pressure Pro tire monitors (coach and toad)
DVD player
Taller comode (my favorite)
Laptop GPS nav (both S&T and CoPilot 8)
PVC tube for sewer hose storage and one for fishing rod storage
Myriad of Rubbermaid containers sized to optimize basement storage.
Blue Ox tow bar and baseplate for toad
Brake Buddy and toad wiring
stone guard to protect toad on Alaska trip

Thanks Tom and Jeff,? I'll take your tips on closet shelves/drawers.  I'll make some points with DW
Other mods will have to await my return from Alaska.

There have been some great ideas mentioned here so far.
thanks, lou
?

One night the Admiral made me sleep on one [a recliner chair].

Ah, you'd been a bad boy, eh Smoky ;)

Doug
