I plan on spending 2 months around Pismo beach, Morro bay, Cayucas Cal June thru July. I have reservations for Bella Vista by the sea and plan on staying at Morro Strand and Pismo south state camping. I am in Tucson and want to escape the crazy summer heat (even though I've lived here many years).
My question is for anyone who knows that Cal area well.
I would like to take my motorhome up there in April and store it until my June reservation to avoid traveling in the June heat.
In Tucson we have nice paved shaded secure storage facilities.
Are there any good places to store nice motorhomes in the area in Cal mentioned? I have searched, and called chamber of commerce without answers. Looks like crowded ,dirt lots.
Can anyone help with information about a better place to store my motorhome?

How far will be acceptable from Pismo Beach? You probably won't find anything close as property is usually ridiculously expensive near the CA coast and there are better ways for the property owners to make more $$$ than RV storage. You're not going to find anything like Tucson in such an area.

The more inland you go the more your odds will improve on finding what you want.

Looks like Paso Robles may be my best bet unless someone else knows of something paved and covered nearer to Cayucas. Paso Robles appears to have some nice storage facilities although much more pricey. Only 26 miles.

And if you do find something closer to the coast & as nice as what you will find in Paso Robles (very unlikely), you will find Paso Robles to be dirt cheap by comparison.

There is no way to win this close to the coast of CA--& especially the southern CA coast.

And you will need to get used to CA prices, such as ~$4.50 per gallon down there today for 87 octane, about $5.00 a gallon for diesel.

FWIW, here in Reno it is the opposite, diesel is cheaper than gasoline.

Another thing I should mention, you probably do not want to keep a decent RV all that close to the ocean saltwater for long anyway.

IAC, good luck--I think you will need it in that part of CA.

Follow up on my own posts. For anyone else who may find it useful.
Paso Robles RV and boat storage.
$295 month for paved covered 45 ft 14 wide space
Always available on short notice
Excellent security high walls, cameras, pest control.
Prorated fees. Monthly no extended contracts.
Family operated.
Just off hgwy 101
Sounds like a plan.

There are reasons why CA is the most populated state in the country.

In Tucson a comparable is around $125- $150 east of town near Vail. I store on my own property though. I just need a total of around 3 months in Paso Robles to avoid the trip in the desert heat of Arizona summer. Worth it for the piece of mind on the short term.

Temp doesnt tell the whole story. Never been there so maybe it is better there. Dont know. But even though the temps can be lower here i know i can almost always go outside here when it is snowing in a tshirt and not feel cold. I was outside a couple days ago grilling during the last snowstorm lol

the same temp here both hot and cold is far more comfy here than the same temp in pa.

Hence the songs:
Wish they all could be Colorado girls
Colorado dreaming on such a winters day
And who can ever forget the timeless Rocky mountain high, California.

Seriously though. Escaping Arizona's endless record heat summers and sitting on an overlook enjoying the Cayucas pier and coastline at 70 degrees in June is just the remedy this retired aging body needs.

Expect for Flagstaff, the only city in all of AZ to NEVER hit 100° F in all of its recorded history. The hottest temperature on record for Flagstaff is 97 °F (36 °C) in July 1973. To compare, let's use the place known for cold summers, San Francisco. The record high is 105°F for SF! And I can recall a summer day in SF where it was hotter than Phoenix or Las Vegas. But that made the news, so it is very rare.

So to cool off, all you need to do is head for Flagstaff. No need to leave AZ.

How are the beaches?
Lived in Az most of my life. I remember when Flagstaff and Prescott were quaint small towns in the early 1970s. Bought my motorhome near Leeds Utah. Stayed at an RV park east of Mt Humphreys. Motorcycled up to Snow Bowl. Tucson has a mountain peak community at 9000 feet that I visit often. Love the mountains but there's just something about the ocean.

Colorado has beaches lol

i like beaches but prefer mountains. Good thing there is lots of variety in the world or an awful lot of people would be miserable

Like the guy who sold Tom & me my house in Reno. His wife and he moved into a larger house about three blocks down the hill that cost more. Tom & I have been in his more expensive larger house. No way would we trade him even. Tom & I could not stand their more expensive larger house he moved to. For all types of reasons. Here are a few I can remember:

He has a 2-car garage and no place to park an RV. The house he sold us has a three-car garage and a place to park one RV. He is further down the hill and cannot see the distant view as well as at my place on the very top of the hill. His house is too close to the nosiey roads below. To get to his place from the bottom of the hill, he has to drive a quarter mile past it and make a U-turn because of the long island in the road. Many other issues, those are just a few that I remember.

Of course, Tom & I didn't mention any of that to him.

But just after we left there, Tom & I mentioned to each other how happy we were that different people have different tastes in houses.

Yeah, his new house is a little larger, but mine is large enough and then some, especially for me alone (Tom died of cancer in year 2016). And when we were inside his house it didn't seem to be any larger than ours to us, but it was more SF in writing. Tom & I couldn't find anything we liked about that house. But the opposite for the cheaper house he sold to us. We couldn't find anything we didn't like.

This house in Auburn Tom has never seen. I purchased this place the same year he died, a few months later.

But do not forget the song "CA Dreaming". Some people from other states like CA so much after a visit that they not only dream about it, but also write songs about CA:
