An RVer camping near Sacramento Pass, Nevada asked members to identify a low-mounted electrical-looking object near the entrance to the area. Several members first identified it as a small 15 kVA distribution transformer or transformer can with cut high-voltage conductors, insulators, and utility-style labeling, while others discussed whether it had once been part of an abandoned rural power installation.

An RVer camping near Sacramento Pass, Nevada asked members to identify a low-mounted electrical-looking object near the entrance to the area. The mystery was later resolved when the RVer rechecked it and found it was being used as a current locking mailbox, with incoming mail visible and the outgoing side locked, apparently for a nearby Osceola Road address. Related observations were also addressed: the solar panels and boxes on the vault toilet likely power a small LED light, the hatch by the restroom is for pumping the vault tank, and a later separate object at Bean Flat was identified by members as a solar-powered weather station with a camera used as part of a weather data network.
