I have a 1951 MG replica and I’m looking for a clock to mount in the dash. I’ve got a couple of questions.
1) will a analog clock use more electricity than a digital clock. The reason I ask is that the car may sit for a couple of weeks without being run and I’m wondering if an analog clock would drain the battery faster than a digital clock.

2) I want the clock to sorta match the other gages. They have a chrome bezel, 2” diameter, black face, white numbers and red hands. Also needs a light for at night. Any ideas where I can pick one up cheap? Say around $30.00/40.00 bucks.

Well I purchased an analog clock on Amazon and just installed it. It is just below the radio. It is SCS toy the same size as the other gages. 2” diameter. The only difference is the backlight on the clock is red and the gages are all white. I couldn’t find a clock with white backlight. I wanted a chrome bezel, black face and white numbers which I have. That’s OK. No one is going to see it other than me and my copilot

In the pictures it looks bigger than the other gauges but it is exactly the same size

Nice. You could put red bulbs in the other gauges or check it may be the bulb in the clock,
That’s a good idea John. It would be nearly impossible to replace the existing bulbs. It’s. A very small dash and what little space there is, it is packed with wires. I’d be afraid to play around out back there for fear to maybe disconnect or break a wire. Then I’d be up the creek without a paddle. I will take a look at the clock housing and see if there is access to the bulb.

Love your car. I always wanted a TC/TD model but they were always too pricy and unreliable. Owners spent more time under them than in them.

I took the new clock out and it is totally sealed and no access at all for a light bulb or whatever I was able to see the backside of one of the other gauges and they are too all sealed. So I’ll have to live with it.
