Need advice on cross country trip from PA to Portland, OR

Headed to Portland from PA at end of May. Plan to take about three weeks to get to OR.

Need some input on "must-sees" and routing info along the way.

Well, if you haven't seen Mt. Rushmore, stop there.  It's one of those places that pictures do no justice.  It is a really magnificent site.
