Good Day!  I'm Jim Dow.  My wife, Frances, and I just purchased a used Montana High Country (2011); and we are beginning to outfit it for our first trip.

I have a few questions:
1)  Do I need to add a a couple of house batteries (250 ah - AGM) and an inverter (Xantrex 2.5) to make things comfortable?
2)  Do I need to replace the OEM tires on the trailer to feel safer at towing speeds of 65mph to 70mph?
3)  Do I need to purchase a surge protector/voltage protector (SurgeGuard - permanent mount or portable)?
4)  Do I need a polarity tester for campground hookups?
5)  Do I need to purchase an air compressor?
6)  I have a Honda EU6500is generator.  Should I trade it in on two EU3000is (coupled) generators?

Thanks for your time and consideration.
Jim

Welcome to the forum:
1) Are you doing a lot of dry camping; no hookups?
2) Why not drive at 55-60 and save some fuel and arrive safely. Depends on the ratings of the tire for higher speeds. Whats the rush; part of Rving is taking in the scenery.
3) A surge protector is a safety feature---portable or permanent would be your preference.
4) Great to have as some who wire the campgrounds are known to be non electrical qualified.
5) another nice item to carry as it saves money form trying to find a location to air them up and they cost money.
6) Keep the 6500 if it not to difficult to maneuver around.

I amy not have helped at all; but there is a Rv library thread that will answer many ?'s. Also many her may have great suggestions. Happy Trails!

Welcome, be sure to check the towable forum on this site. I just moved up from a 5er to class a so here is my short answers. 1Not until its determined you need it. 2 That's your call, fine line between what's needed and how safe you feel. 3 Yes. 4. I've never used one. Don't own one. 5. Always carry one 6. I used two 2000 units cause they were easy to handle

Batteries yes, two deep cycle batteries are a minumum.  Inverter, needed?  No.

2)  Do I need to replace the OEM tires on the trailer to feel safer at towing speeds of 65mph to 70mph?

If your tires are less than 5 years old, leave them on.  If they are 7 or older, replace now.  If they are between 5 and 7 replace at first failure.  By the way, towing at 65/70mph is a good way to have your fuel bill bankrupt you.  The fuel mileage at 70 will be about 60% of the mileage at 55 mph

3)  Do I need to purchase a surge protector/voltage protector (SurgeGuard - permanent mount or portable)?
No, unless you travel in areas where large power surges are common.  An example is the SW during the late summer monsoon which generates a lot of thunder storms.

4)  Do I need a polarity tester for campground hookups?

Yes.  A cheap 3 prong plug tester is fine.  buy one at your local hardware.

5)  Do I need to purchase an air compressor?

Yes.  You will find them almost essential in maintaining trailer tires.

6)  I have a Honda EU6500is generator.  Should I trade it in on two EU3000is (coupled) generators?

I don't know.
