Hello all,

We are planning a year long travel experience in 2021 or 22. We will be exploring the site and probably be asking alot of questions. We are in our early 40's and going to say screw it pay off all our bills within the next 2 years and just go wherever our whims take us. We will be doing this in our 16 f-150 and a TT yet to be bought. We are in the research phase for that.

Welcome to the RV Forum Mike and Terri

A lot of questions won't be a problem. Just post them one question per post to avoid confusion.

Have you done any RVing in the past?

When you are shopping most salesmen will lie to you tell you your massive truck will pull anything on the lot. They are correct, it will pull anything on the lot, but most of them it will not pull safely. You really shouldn't look at anything over about 24 feet. The problem with a light truck is the wind will blow you all over the highway and you will require a lot more room to stop. I suggest going to some RV dealers and walk through a bunch of units. 24 feet may sound big but if you two are going to be spending a year in it then it will become very small. Minimum I would consider for two people full timing is 34 feet. Then you will need a one ton. With only $40k to spend I would be shopping for a 34 foot class A and a nice little toad.

For some clarification. I understand my pick up and its limitations. I do have a class A CDL and understand the towing side. While we have minimal RV experience we are used to close quarters as I spend a lot of my time in hotels or very small living quarters. We are planning on it being more of the tiny home experience.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike and Terri, welcome to the forum! I'm leaving in 6 weeks for a 10 month trip starting in NY and doing a counter- clockwise loop around the country.

Well, a 24-26 ft RV is surely a tiny home, but since you are aware of it I won't dwell overmuch.  Give some thought, though, to laundry/clothes storage (clean & dirty), size of the fridge, and a shower larger enough for adults.

Thank you, We are looking to go minimalist.

RV Momma,
That sounds like an adventure for sure. We aren't really planning any where specific just wherever we feel like. Its a live life with minimal worries and enjoy it.

Mine has been a ridiculous amount of planning, mainly because there's so so much I want to see and only 10 months to do it. And I have the kids with me. But I would love to do it your way once the kids are out.

Lol I like to set realistic goals! Hahahahaha
My next goal is getting down to my birth weight.
I'll go fix it ?

Just keeping you on your toes ;D ;D

Regarding the birth weight goal....By the end of your trip you just might be a lot closer.
