Hello all, hope all is going well for you.

I've got a couple questions.

1st. Is it recommended to use a plastic lube plate or to lube the plate where the 5th wheel pin rides. If so it would seem to me that the plastic lube plate would certainly be less messy. Is a plastic lube plate as good as lubing the plate itself.

2nd. My hitch is new and I'm wondering if it is a problem leaving it in the back of my truck (while not using it) during rainy spells.

I'm just trying to get a handle on my new toy and I didn't find these answers in the library.

Thank you
Alan

Hi Al,

The plastic lube plate is, I believe, made out of teflon. Yes, it is perfectly acceptable to use the plate. Sure eliminates the mess from lubing.

Many hitches are left in the back of the truck for months on end. Obviously some parts might get rusty over time.

As Jim said it is OK, unless the hitch is a Pullrite Super Glide in which case there is not room for the plate.
