Hello, all!
I'm a retired Financial Advisor, 3 years new to the RV community, and gradually gearing up for more and longer extended journeys boondocking, and touring as circumstances and time allow. I'm single (for the moment, anyway), and slowly accumulating those things I believe will help me make life more convenient on the road. I have a Golden Retriever named Whiskey, he's a rescue I adopted last October, about 2 1/2 - 3 years old, and of course, just the greatest dog ever! My family is in the Phoenix area, might move there someday, but for now, just focused on planning for RV adventures. Big on National Parks, camping for longer than I can remember (tent), and now that I'm retired, I have time and resources to allow a more comfortable style of outdoorsmanship!

Welcome to The RV Forum, Obiwan! Love your user name. If you're over 62, get a Senior Pass. Gives you free admission to all the national parks and Federally operated recreational areas across the country with half price camping and other services (some concessionaire run campgrounds and services are exempt). Available at any park entry station or by mail for an extra $10 service fee. Used to be called the Golden Age Pass (a.k.a. Geezer Pass) and was $10 for a lifetime pass, now it's $80 for a lifetime pass and still a deal. Or you can get a $20 annual pass and trade in four consecutive annual passes for a lifetime pass.

Welcome. You might consider camp hosting as your long term goal. Super nice people to work with and always appreciative of you.
We hosted for 7 years with Oregon state parks and had a ball. Would still be doing it if it weren't for wife's health.

Thanks! Got my Senior Pass at 62 for $50 I think it was then... been using it prodigiously ever since! Camp Host? Perhaps down the road... got some trekkin' to do first!

Nice part about camp hosting, 2 days a week off, 30 day commitment, free camping in exchange for a few hours a day of easy labor. Many hosts I worked with would put in their 4 hours and then go explore. On their days off they would disappear all day. A month in one place gives you enough time to see a lot before moving on.

Just to be clear, the hours, workload and commitment depend entirely on the workcamping gig selected. So does the pay (if any). Positions vary from "social greeter" to "maintenance man" to "security cop". Make sure you understand what you sign up for.
