My wife and I have been reading much to learn how to transition to full time. We have about 2 years before she retires (I'm ready at the drop of a hat! Actually - I'm ready even if you don;t have a hat!)
We've been looking at various rigs and decided that a Class A, 35+ long would work and allow us and whatever furry kid we want to take along to live without going crazy.
Our dilemmas are - buy now and take weekend trips locally, or wait until 6 mos before we "take the plunge" to buy and play around then.  We would have to store the unit away from home (Our township only allows up to 24' to be parked in residential areas). The costs are reasonable and would be at the dealers storage lot.
To that, we have found 2 DPs that came up at reasonable prices and because we know nothing about makes/models, we can use some input. When we started I was sure I wanted a Gasser, but then these 2 showed up and..... Kind of like how I met my wife!
I have another post in the "Newcomers Corner" to that effect, so I won't bother you here.
I do want to thank all of you who posted here. I spent many hours (make that days) reading the forums here and learning so much more that I got from the books I purchased. I hope to be able to be of help once I have a few notches on my belt.. err - make that steering wheel!
Looking forward to meeting many of you over time

I just got 38ft 1999 Monaco Diplomat diesel I love it. Getting ready to go for 3 weeks to Ohio(leaving AZ) then to Kentucky to my sisters 80 acres in the wilderness. The RV is in immaculate condition, stove never even used other appliances barely. The man took such good care of it. All new batteries, new tires he even filled the 100 gal. tank before he signed it over to me. Only thing I had to do was get new wiper blades.I'm thinking in the next 1-2 yrs I'll be in it full time with my 3 dogs. I got a couple good books from Amazon about RVing full time mostly places to go stay, boondocking. One on installing solar panels which I'll do before I'm in it full time.  The only draw back to the longer over 27-45ft is limitations where you can get in to stay some national parks & such that have size restrictions. But there are so many other places to go!  Enjoy your new home I sure am.

Hi and welcome to the forum.  I guess you need to do the sums and decide what is best for you.  People will say it's not good to leave an RV sitting for too long a period so bear that in mind.

Anyhow, ask any questions as you need to and jump into the conversations anytime.  Good luck
