No electricity in rv

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an RV or an interest in RVing!

An EMS is always helpful in my opinion. Especially for those with limited or no electrical skills. In his particular situation he would know if he actually had shore power to the RV and if the phasing was correct. Anything from there requires a multimeter and some troubleshooting.

Good article explaining ems. Almost everyone should probably have one but there are a very small number of people who it probably isnt worth the extra cost. Very small...

It’s pretty embarrassing.
My husband changed the batteries and turned off the breakers and forgot to turn them back on. So I assumed they were on. So when I tried resetting them I kept turning them off.🤦‍♀️. I couldn’t see the on/off.
All good now. I’m learning a lot about our RV that we’ve traveled in for 10 years.

20/20 hindsight is an interesting thing. You shouldnt be embarrased. Stuff like this hapoens to everyone. I one paid $150 cause my home furnace stopped working. The batteries in the thermostat were dead lol.

I've done a lot of similar things. I've learned to just laugh at myself.

Radio friend of mine has a cypher lock (electronic) on his front door...same as Management put on all our apartrments save his is a "Smart Home" and mine "Smart Rent" (Physically identical) Well the battery cover it held on with a screw and the threads in the housing strip.. usually during initial setup.

First time the battery died he called a locksmith and spent big bucks... Second time he sent me an E-mail.

One of my "Neighbors" (Differnet building in the complex) Called for emergency battery change while the night guy was addressing an issue in my apartment (Leak in bath. Apartment above mine.. Ceiling in my bath) So I layed the old Mark one Eye on mine.. Just looked, not touched.. Figured out how to get the cover off....

So I replied to his email with instructions.. The cover popped right off. put in a new battery.. All fixed... cost of 9-volt radio battery only (A few dollars)

I've not had to pull the cover on mine.. they pop in a new battery at least once a year (if not twice) .

OH how to do it two ways.
Sharp knife under the head of the screw as you back it out apply outward pressure by SLIGHTLY torquing the knife.

Method two..Slip knife between plastic cover and metal body and be ready to CATCH cover as it pops off (The threads are after all stripped) That's how Daryl did it.

Thank you for sharing the cause of no 120V power. You just added to my Things to check knowledge base.

Oh i knew how to change the batteries but that was thw first thermostat i had where dead batteries kept the furnace from running.

That reminds me I might want to change the batteries in my thermostat. It was installed with the new unit in the summer of 2022. It does have a low battery warning on it. And, 9v batteries, I have Schlage combination locks on my back door and the shop door, they were changed exactly a year ago. Time for two new ones.
