Members shared a wide range of experiences and advice about transitioning from traditional house living to full-time RV life, especially with a family in Tucson, AZ. The original poster hoped to save money by moving into a 5th wheel and paying $680/month for an RV park, compared to $2,000+ in rent and utilities. However, many RVers cautioned that the true costs of RV living—truck and RV payments, insurance, maintenance, utilities (especially summer electricity for A/C), and campground...

This should be illegal...
Why? It has its pros & cons for the staff, but not liking something doesn't make it illegal. A example would be the bartender in a busy restaurant making drinks for the table servers. The bartender might spend half his/her time making drinks for servers but gets no tip if the server doesn't voluntarily share. Naturally, the bartender gives good service to the bar patrons and not-so-much to the servers orders. But that's bad for the house as a whole, so "tipping out" as part of the house policy makes sure everybody involved gets a piece of the action. It works the other way too if the bartender takes a food order but a server has to bring it to the bar, which one gets the tip or a share of it? All these schemes have a reason but none of them are perfectly fair. They are supposed to average out as being fair, but sometimes they go awry.

Thank you guys for replying. What I meant to say about no more rent, I was talking about house rent and utilities. Yes we will like to go full time her in AZ, I have a job here, we are in our early 30s and have kids together. theres a place that you can hook up and live there and pay 680 a month. We have good credit so we will be purchasing the 5th wheel and a truck. But will do a yard sale first and sell my sedan.
Im not experienced with these two giants. Here it gets really hot in the summer, winter doesnt last long but around February we can get below 30s.
Forget about dry weight when doing calculations to safely match a tow vehicle and 5th wheel RV; well unless that's how you plan to travel, with nothing inside the trailer.
When matching a truck to your 5er, there are several things to consider. This website might have your answers.

Another reason to not have tipping at all.

It should all be adjust to come out the same or very close to it. IOW, the restaurants and employees should not win or lose if we go to no tipping. Everybody should be taking home the same amount or very close to it.

Great idea, comrade. Used to be called the union or something.

Australia is one country where tipping is not done. When we visited in 2015, the national minimum wage was $25(AU)/hour. (about $21, US at that time)
When I visited Australia in 1985 the government had established nationwide minimum wages for each occupation, often well above the nominal minimum wage. The problem was jobs in rural areas usually paid less than the same job in the big city so men would travel to the city during the week, stay in dormitory style hotels and only return to their families on the weekends.

I stayed in several of these hotels that had been converted to tourist accommodations. Typically they were multi-story buildings with small rooms containing a bed, a chair, a TV and maybe a sink. Showers and toilets were down the hall. Hotels with full bathrooms in individual rooms were advertised as having "en-suite amenities".

The wife just got a job 120 miles from our property. Our property is a place we want to retire and life the rest of our lives.... problem is... her job is away and she needs another 3-5 years to retirement.... So we will RV.... Yeah... We will RV.....

The new community has no rentals or housing to buy...... Yeah, there are a few but they are $3k-$5k a month..... We can do an RV Park for $475 a month plus electrical ....

Yep... that's our Huckleberry....

........

I don't know about the rest of you guys. but I usually tip generously, in cash, for good service. To me it shows a bit of appreciation.
As far as I'm concerned, it confirms that the waiter or waitress or bar tender is delivering superior service and encourages them to do more of the same. Working for minimum wage is not the most encouraging or fulfilling of circumstances. What's wrong with showing a bit of compassion? ;)
Just my $.02 FWIW
