Looking at a 1984 Fleetwood Jamboree, It's in really good shape and is exactly the size i have been looking for, Just for fishing trips and such. Anybody have any experience with these? It has 70,000 miles and im getting it for $3700, New tires, new water heater and a few other new misc items.

On a rig of that age, condition is everything. Keep a close eye on the roof and the joint between the overhead and the cab - both are likely spots for water leaks. Keep a tube of caulk handy - Dicor lap sealant is an excellent choice for rubber roofs, and Geocel Protech Pro Flex RV caulk is excellent for seams on fiberglass or metal.

Gary - My metal roof was developed a small leak and I was wondering what to use, so thanks for the info. When I searched Amazon I came up with Proflex, not Protech. Is this the stuff?

Ok i guess i will ask here, I am paying $3700 for it does it sound like a deal or should i keep looking, I am looking for something around this length and $5000 or under, Here is what the ad says....

JAMBOREE RALLY by FLEETWOOD POWERED BY FORD 460
Tires brakes & shocks have less then 4000.miles bill was
$2400.00 replced floor, back spalsh & replaced front seats
Also has new water heater.75000 miles has been serviced ever 3000 miles

Sorry - it is Pro Flex RV, not Protech. If you can't find the stuff labeled "RV", the regular Geocel Pro Flex works fine.

Dicor makes a metal roof sealer too. And Eternabond tape is fabulous for any surface that is smooth enough to allow it to adhere.

Anything that old is a crap shoot, but $3700 sounds like a reasonable gamble, especially with the new tires and brakes. Hope you are a handyman - these things like a lot of TLC.

Lessons learned.  Our first RV, a gas front engine 26' GMC was $11K and then we put more than that into upgrades and repairs starting with new tires all around.  Second one, a 34' diesel pusher was very low mileage (18K) and only 4 hours on the genset and very few repairs, no upgrades but more expensive initially.  Third one turned out to be too small (Class B, 22' Sprinter, Mercedes diesel engine) when we thought downsizing was a smart thing for both economy and efficiently.  We're currently on RV # 4 and are still making repairs and upgrades but the latter clearly our choice and not necessary for operating the vehicle.  This was all over a period 12 years.  If the PO (previous owner) has all records, all the better.
