The fridge will take 12 hours to get close to set temperature. However, you should be able to notice cooling in the cabinet after an hour or two.

Best location to touch and feel cold is in the freezer back wall. That should feel cool to the touch within an hour and continue to get cooler

Absorption fridges have a very slow recovery process. It is a trade off for flexibility and versatility. Once the fridge gets to temperature, It should be just fine.

How old is the fridge? Are you new to it, or is this a change from previous operation that YOU have experienced?

As you should know, fridge needs to be reasonably level to operate. Don't park on the side of a hill. It won't work well and can cause permanent damage.

Have you opened the outside access to see if you have experienced any leaks. Evidence of which is yellow coating on various parts. (chromate leaked from inside, do NOT touch this, as it can absorb thru the skin and is a carcinogen.)

Henry is right, freezer gets cold first, back wall, then fridge cools after freezer is mostly cold. I start mine and walk away until the next day.

Charli know what you mean by yellow coating, that,s what happen to my last one, i replaced it with this one about 4 years ago, will keep you posted on the out come, thanks again Gary

If you find yellow powder on or near the boiler, or anywhere near the coils, the cooling unit is dead and will not work no matter how long you wait.

Can we assume that the 4 years the refrigerator has worked as it should? Have you looked at the service manual from the link that Charles posted? I suggest that you go to page 50 of that manual and follow the instructions to use the diagnostics to check things. Pay attention and make note of the stored faults in the stored fault history. I would also note of the readings in each screen and those readings my lead you to the proper section of the troubleshooting diagrams. I have found those diagnostics to be very helpful in the past.

turned on fridge for 12 hours overnight but no change, still not working,i discovered my batteries were very low on electrolite, topped them up and put a charger on , not sure if that has anything to do with it or not, will check in later , thanks Gary

The refrigerator requires 12v power to operate at all, whether in LP Gas or AC electric mode. If the RV is plugged to 120v power, the RV converter/charger should supply that easily. If operating from battery, voltage should be at least 11.0 for reliable operation (12+ is better).
