Hi, my norcold N611RT fridge freezer has been working fine for the last year, and running on gas, (we are full time in the RV) a couple of days ago, the freezer temperature was reading 0 degrees C, the burner was still lit, no flashing lights, but not cooling, l switched it off for a few hours, today l switched it back on, the burner lit, nice blue flame, after a couple of hours checked the coil, its warm at the bottom (where the tube goes into the heat stack, by the burner tube) but further up the coil is cold, no smells, no yellow stains, the RV has not been moved, and it's level, should the coil be warm further up ??, any help greatly appreciated

In normal operation, the refrigerant is boiled in the boiler, then shifts through the piping via convection flow and the temperature is highest near the bottom. When operating properly, the RV refrigerator should be set between 33°F and 40°F (0.6°C to 4.4°C), and the freezer should be set at 0°F (-18°C) or slightly below. That should be the same for gas or electric mode.

There are several problems that could cause your problems but the most likely is either a loss of refrigerant or plugged up tubing.

Hi Kirk, thanks for the info, is there any way that l can check or resolve my problem, or is it a worst case seniario and replacement of the fridge freezer

Take a look at the area around the burner. If there's yellow powder there it's a deader.

Check the thermistor for the expected resistance. Instructions can be found online.

Got fans? Make sure they're turning.

If the cooling unit has leaked its ammonia/hydrogen gas, it's irreparable. If the tubes in the cooling unit have become clogged, it's about 99% surely not repairable. The good news is that the cooling unit alone can be replaced - no need to throw away the fridge box. It's even a DIY job if you have basic hand tools - no special tools or skills needed.

Here's one source: Norcold 610/611 Gas/elect Cooling Unit (FREE SHIPPING) - JC Refrigeration

Hi Kirk, tried the link, but it said "you've been blocked " any ideas, I've checked all around the rear of the unit, as much as l can, no yellow stuff anywhere, no smells, just a warm lower pipe, it's trying to work, the freezer is recording -4C, and to eliminate the thermistor, l unplugged the thermistor so the unit should be working flat out, but like l said only -4

I can't imagine why you would be blocked from viewing a commercial sales site, but it will be something in your browser or internet access. Just Google (or whatever) 'norcold N611RT cooling unit' and you should find multiple places offering them for sale, either rebuilt originals or aftermarket replacements like the JC Refrigeration unit.
