I yearn for the days of "My water heater quit" or "No lights" posts... I really like helping people (that want to help themselves).
Me too. There seems an increasing attitude that this site is the place for any topic of discussion as long as the poster has (or once had) some connection to RVing. The topic raised or opinion offered too often has scant relationship to RVs or RVing and quickly deteriorates into a non-RV debate.

Wondering if the moderators find anything wrong or baiting?

Still trying to understand what is allowed? Plus tried of biting my tongue when trolls allowed.
I refuse to be a victim of some silly remarks if i dont like what is posted i quickly move on. That said i have got plenty of good info from the reg RV posters who contribute useful info.

I agree 100% and the kicker is that almost any topic can very quickly get political these days. Or at least what a lot of people consider to be political. I come to this forum for RV information and experiences. I really don't give a hoot about any other vehicle or topic, which seems to consume quite a bit of content here. I just don't open or read the threads instead of getting offended by them.

Back then I would get chastised or banned or called a troll for throwing a fast quip to the OP for not providing enough info for us to help them. "I wasn't being 'nice'." :-/

I agree. I love tech issues, troubleshooting, problem solving and upgrade ideas.
There is a section called The Shade Tree where non RV topics can be discussed within Forum rules. If members want only RV related topics we should maybe vote on doing away with the Shade Tree or the mods can be more proactive and delete any reply or post that they feel crosses the line. Maybe enact a rule that after three infractions a member is banned (I would probably be gone). Sounds harsh but if we can’t follow the rules maybe we shouldn’t be here.

A group of men gathered every day at the local coffee shop where they would order a cup of coffee and sit around and talk about fishing. They'd talk about all the techniques of fishing. They'd talk about different fishing line tense strength. They'd talk about how to make fly fishing hooks, and the difference in fishing rod reels. They'd talk about the how marvelous it was in their past to cast the line, to hook that fish, and how marvelous it was to dress the fish out, cook it, and eat it.

Then one day a new fellow joined their little coffee club circle and day after day heard all these amazing stories and facts about fishing.

He went out and bought a fishing pole and a box of worms and found a lake and threw in his line. He caught a fish! Oh my, how exciting, he caught a fish!

The next day he rejoined the little coffee club and in the midst of their carying-ons, he simply said, "I caught a fish yesterday." Everyone froze in silence. He told his story. Everyone was dumb founded.

The next day, the little coffee club had triple the attendance. Everyone wanted to hear his story again. The next day, the group got even bigger, and before long the fellow was standing on a stage sharing his story how he caught the fish. Unfortunately, he had so many speaking engagements booked in his future, he never had time to actually go fishing again.

Maybe it's time for some folks on these forums to simply go camping again!

Just curious but, since you also are a significant contributor to our sister website, do you see as much of the political/religious stuff at IRV2?

A poster is criticized for politically incorrect speech, and the protestor calls them a troll? Then the name calling is perpetuated by a number of posters. So politically incorrect speech is a worse offense than a personal attack? The word hypocrite comes to mind.
