Oh no-- that clock thing again? Cue the debaters...

I think people get confused because they dont know how light and dark work. People have it backwards. Light does not illuminate dark. Dark sucks light. Dark has mass and generates heat. Dark is heavier than light. That is why the deeper you go in water the darker it gets.

Dark is also faster than light. If you were to stand in a lit room in front of a closed, dark closet, and slowly opened the closet door, you would see the light slowly enter the closet. But since dark is so fast, you would not be able to see the dark leave the closet.

Yes, but as the circle of light increases so too does the circumference of darkness around it.

"The biannual shift between Daylight Saving and Standard Time leads to meaningful, negative societal health consequences. However, the biomedical impact of remaining in either time policy is poorly understood. By incorporating county-level solar light patterns, time policy, and health data with circadian models, we demonstrate that shifting to permanent Standard Time would lead to a decrease in the prevalence of stroke and obesity."

I call ST (Standard time) Smart time and DST (Daylight savings time) Dumb Stupid Time.
Costs many millions of dollars 2x a year resetting clocks

Why not just re-do the "Hours" sign so it says something like Nov-1 to April 1 9-5
April 1 to Nov 1 8-4
And then in the summer Dolly sings "Working 8-4".

Or better yet. Just change to Smart Time and leave it.

While it doesn’t seem to be popular here I am looking forward to the extra hour of sunlight in the evening. Don’t care so much about it at 7-8A. I’d vote for moving forward this weekend and lock it in. Don’t fall back.

When we recently arrived home from our annual winter sojurn in the MidWest, a wall clock had died (again). After several failed attempts to resuscitate, I decided it would read the correct time twice a day. Yesterday we had the discussion about changing clocks next weekend, and I announced that the wall clock with continue to show the correct time twice a day, just an hour away.

I got it. In order to satisfy both ends of the keep it or kill it DST thing, a compromise. Still set it back/ahead but only for a half hour! Or... it more people vote for one setting or the other, maybe 18 minutes?? What? That's not a brilliant idea?? :scratchhead: :LOL:

Time is relative. Everyone should decide for themselves what time they think it should be. AI databases will keep track of everyone's preference so when you reference a time to someone else, it will be instantaneously translated to the receiver's defined time.
Dinner on Thursday at 6pm?
They'll be there right on time- Tuesday at 3:23am. Don't be judgemental of they/thems time standard.

I don't care, anymore. My computer and phone and GPS keep track of time and what Time zone I am in, and I ignore the clocks in the Car and RV dashboards because I am running back and forth across the Central and Mountain time zones a lot.
So, "Time" is quite relative to where I am at any given "time". Another hour, one way or another, won't matter much.

Being a Canadian for more than half of my life, and born in a country with no need for DST, I can say that change the clock does bother me a bit, but one learns to ignore it and adapt.

Now, here in Canada, British Columbia is going to join the great province of Saskatchewan (and a handful of municipalities across the country) in getting rid of the clock dance and setting all year Daylight Saving Time, as of this Sunday.
