I was browsing around youtube videos and a guy was dry winterizing a trailer and simply left the gray water valve open while flushing the water out of the fresh water lines with air.

In my case the TT is brand new so there shouldn't have ever been anything in the gray tank, but in the future does this sound okay?  I'd think that as long as the tank doesn't have any actual gray water in it, and you're not flushing tons of debris down the drain.. maybe this is okay?

I need to sanitize my water system, and I was thinking this would make it slightly easier.. rather than actively limiting the amount of water that ends up down the drain.

So I guess the answer is yes?  I'm fairly sure there's not reason to sanitize the gray water system ;-)

This is a "your millage may vary" issue.. I will cover.

In doing some research as to dumping gray water I find that we have not 2 but 3 classes of waste water

Black (you know what that is)  MUST ALWAYS be properly disposed of in a septic or sewer system.

GRAY: Many places you can dump gray on the ground, no problem.. IN FACT some "Green" houses have seperated gray and black water systems and use the Gray to water the lawn.

WASH: This is Gray water OTHER than the kitchen sink (Washing machine, Shower, or bathroom lav's) Does not contain food particales.. EVEN MORE places allow the dumping of wash water on the ground.

Nowever many, and "Even more" do not equal "ALL"

In some places you dump any waste tank on the ground and get caught.... Not a good thing.

However... On your own property... Hidden from passing traffic... Odds of getting caught.. SLIGHT.

But to be sure you need to check the laws in your neighborhood.

Where I used to have my sticks & Bricks.. I had a dump station.

I just let it run into a bucket, mostly because I usually blow the lines in covered storage.  I have a dirt floor there and don't want a muddy mess.
