:-\I picked up an old (1970) camper with a magic chef oven and can't figure out how the pilot is supposed to work. There's no pilot position shown on the control knob. I can light the prelight pilot buy turning the knob to temperature and pushing it in, but it goes out as soon as the knob is turned back. The 76 I had used a knob with a pilot position. Anyone know how this thing works? I can't find a modle number to? research.

In most of these older ovens you simply keep the gas knob pressed in for awhile, until a sensor in the flame heats up enough to recognise that a flame is present. After that it will stay lit.  If the sensor has failed, it won't ever "see" the flame and it will have to be replaced.

Here's some basic info on Magic Chep parts:  Magic Chef Parts Source

??? If I do manage to get this thing to stay lit, is it necessary to shut off the propane supply to turn if off?
