Onan generator 4.0 yk

Any help would be appreciated. Generator shut off, wasn't getting fuel. Fuel pump changed after restarting it started surging. Changed spark plugs, gapped at 26000. Surging continues, changed carburetor. Runs ok for 30 mins then starts surging with or without a load. I will change coil tomorrow! Any other ideas of what maybe going on.

It states that surging is usually a gummed up carburetor but there are other causes

I would put a temporary piece of clear plastic line at the carb to see what the gas looks like going into carb. Eliminate vapor lock and check integrity of gas line.
