I have an Onan microquiet 4000 (model: 4kyfa26100k).
It was running last night and it decided to shut down this morning after about 8 hours of operation. I get the 3 flashes and when I push the switch 3 times to get the code it gives a 33. It starts with no issues but will die after the switch is released. Any ideas on where to start checking are greatly appreciated.

It shows 33 as a overheat sensor. It may be bad. This also tells the glow plugs when and how long to heat. That may be why it won't start. The glow plugs are not heating.

Sorry I seen that is a gas model not diesel. I had a friend that we had same code but was a diesel

Are you sure you are seeing the right code. If it is flashing 3 that is a fault code. Hit stop and it should give you a 2 digit code. First should be 1-5 blinks followed by a pause the 1-9 that would be your fault code

Thank you for the reply. I went back and checked again and realized I was doing it wrong. There is only a code present if I continue to hold the start button until it shuts down on its own and that code is a 32(low cranking speed sense) which I think doesn?t mean anything as it sets when it shuts itself down. I was pushing the button 3 times with the misunderstanding that it would give me a code but just flashed 3 times and was reading that as a code 33.

Is it still not starting then? A lot of people have had fuel pumps fail as well as myself.

it is getting fuel and runs until either I release the start button or it times the start button out and then shuts down. No issues with starting but it just won?t run after releasing the button.

First thing check the oil level. Most have a low oil shut off.
Have you changed oil  recently?
Some Onan's had a foaming issue if overfilled and the sensor would shut unit down as low oil.

The troubleshooting guide at

may help

Thanks...the first thing I checked was the oil and it was good. Going to have to tear into it sometime this week and see what I can find.

Check the AC Voltage while running. Onans usually have an automatic shutdown for low Voltage or off frequency as well.

Thanks for the advice. I found some good troubleshooting advice about it the AC voltage testing along with a few other things to look for on the Flight Systems site.
