I’m new to the Forum, but not a new camper. Started out in 2011 with a Coleman high wall pop-up, with wife and 2 kids we loved it and graduated in 2014 to a Keystone 31ft. Bunkhouse Premier Bullet travel trailer. With kids grown now it’s just wife and I camping. I am currently working on a deal to trade for a new 2024 Freedom Express 259 FKDS. What I like: Full outdoor kitchen, east west king bed, under 30ft.
Would like others opinions. Thanks.

The Coachman line was bought by Forest River RV and is a mid-price, mid quality RV with reasonable ratings by most recent owners. I think that you will find the improvement to be a good one. Is it new or are you a second owner? If it was previously owned, you might be wise to get it checked out by a mobile RV technician or a certified pre-purchase RV inspector. The outside kitchen is one of those things that most owners either use constantly or wish that they had not bought so make sure which of those you will be. Our son has had one and used it a lot. Since it seems that you will not be living fulltime in the RV, it should serve you well. Congratulations!

The outdoor kitchen is a must for me. I do 95% of our cooking outside, the unit is new , no prior owner. I appreciate your input and it confirms what I have gleaned from my own research. So thanks for your input.

Do little research and buy what is within your budget, is towable by your current vehicle (unless you intend to buy a new one), has the features you desire, and what makes you and your wife happy.

Curious of your tow vehicle? And how often long you and wife will be in trailer?
I ask because I had/have 1 ton for trailer and wanted more room but not a land yacht for snowbirding 2-4 months annually.
37 1/2’ fifth wheel was perfect answer. More room but really not much longer than 28’ bumper pull considering 4’ in the bed and the trailer still had 3-4 foot front hitch area.

The Freedom express sounds like it meets your wants. For me, I prefer the indoor dinette to be on the campside, passenger side, for the window view of my area, not the next door neighbors. I have a few saved for my liking, but they do not have outdoor kitchens. I tend to grill mostly, and generally have an outside cooler for easy grab refreshments.

I have a few, this is only one with a king. I'd likely put better dining chairs inside. 2024 Wildwood 22ERAS Floorplan - Forest River RV

I’m towing with a 3/4 ton ram diesel, but still trying to stay 30ft or so in order to park in my alley access driveway. Trailer storage is getting a bit ridiculous
In Dallas. Not interested in 5th wheel because of the whole hitch in the bed situation. When camping we spend most of our time outside so don’t need a lot of room. On the other hand, the big 5th wheels are pretty sweet!

Looks like a very nice RV. My needs sound similar to yours. I camp with my wife and we like to spend time outside, even after dark. Our needs are more a 25ft total length RV max. My one concern is the back overhang on the 2024 Freedom Express 259 FKDS. That tail looks like it will drag on many dips.
