Our Own Private Balloon Festival

Around 8:15 this morning, Marlene called me out onto the patio. There were about a dozen hot air balloons flying very low overhead, some so low we could hear them talking on their communicators with their chase cars, others we thought would land in our neighbors' yards.

After they all passed from view, we got in our car and chases after. Nearly all had come down within a mile or two. They started from the Glendale Airport (about 2-3 SE of Smoky's campground) where a Balloon Festival and Airshow are taking place this weekend. Nice for use, the SW winds blew them right over us. We came across one that landed on a street in our development (picture attached) and then took off again with a couple of neighbors as passengers. What a pleasant accompaniment to our morning coffee ;D

Sorry for the small sizes, had many problems getting the SW to accept the picture sizes. Contact me if you would like to see them larger.

Pretty cool Bernie.  Just think you didn't even have to deal with the crowds and traffic like you would in ABQ.  Thanks for sharing.
