Thinking about stopping in Branson Mo for a few days on our way to the Smoky Mountains in July.  Does anyone have a favorite park (passport would be nice) and what shows do you recommend.  We have never been there but people seem to love it.

Robin,

The only park that we have stayed at in Branson is the Branson KOA on Animal Safari Road.  It was a nice park, 150 or so RV sites plus some cabins.  The best RV sites are the Luxury Sites that are extra wide with a paved patio, outdoor furniture and an outdoor patio fireplace.  Those sites are very pricey, however, so we stayed in a Premium Site for a week which was much less and still a nice site.  The park is less than a mile south of Hwy 76 where most of the attractions are and is easy to get in and out of.  Check out the park on their website http://bransonkoa.com/.

I'm sure there are others who have stayed at other parks that can make recomendations as well.

As far as shows, I guess that's more personal preference, but we saw The Oak Ridge Boys and thought that was a wonderful show, Shoji Tabuchi has a good show, Twelve Irish Tenors is good, we also saw the Texas Tenors and liked that show.  Other shows we have seen are Acrobats of China, Dixie Stampede, Pierce Arrow, Presley's Country Jubilee, Comedy Jamboree and some others.  We also went to the Titanic Museum which was good, Ripley's Believe It or Not, The Butterfly Palace, The Shepherd of The Hills play, Son's of the Pioneers Dinner Show and others.  Lot's to see and do in Branson.  Both times we went we got our tickets through Branson Tourism Center and they are good to work with.

Hope you have fun.

Branson in July...there are some fine COE campgrounds and State parks in the area as well as private RV parks.  They are not typically "full" service (dump stations vs sewer connections) but, IMHO, much more pleasant than typical elbow to elbow RV parks.  Check out Table Rock State Park or one of the COE parks in the area.  These are not Passport parks, but are reasonably priced.  As for shows, I don't go to them so I can't help there.

We are planning to stop in Branson, MO during the middle of July on our return trip from KY. We've never been to Branson ourselves but we have heard many good things about it as well. I found the "Branson Shenanigans RV Park" online which appeared to be nice and it is a short walk to many of the shows. Check out their park at http://www.bransonrvparks.com/ for information. I don't think this is a Passport park but they appear to be reasonably priced as well.

We have stayed at Musicland Kampgrounds (www.musiclandkampgrounds.com) and the Wilderness at Silver Dollar City.
Music Land is downtown in the middle of the "Strip" within walking distance of many shows. The Wilderness has free shuttle to the park. Both are nice, but not Passport.

Thanks for all the replies.  Really looking at the COE campgrounds.  Never thought about them but I see they are right on the lake so we could fish or swim during the day and take in a show at night.  Still looking, Branson has so many things it will be hard to do all we want to.

Thanks again

Several of the Corps parks have recently been renovated and are pretty nice.  Old Highway 86, Mill Creek and Indian Point are relatively close to Branson and have some nice sites with easy access to the lake.

Robin,

I found another RV park here http://www.bransoncampground.com/ that says they accept Passport America.  It is a little further South but not out on the lake.  I have not seen this one in person, but it sounds like a nice park.

This is the one we stayed at 2 years ago (almost 3 now).  It was a nice park, and the propierters were really great.  It is a little tough getting into it, but not overly so.  I have a 30' 5th wheel and had a crew cab long bed truck then, and Dad had a 34' 5th wheel and we both got in fine, but it is a little twisty and turny up the roads getting in.  Still, nothing to get worked up about.  They were building new level concrete pads when we were there, so they should be available now.  I actually kinda liked where we were under the trees and shade, but it was a bit tough getting leveled.

The best thing about this park is, they accepted the PA discount for the entire stay.  There were no limitations.  That's what really sold me on it.  I have a few pics I can get later.

Also think the Springfield or Ozark area for parks. It is just a short drive away and cost may be a little less.....Make sure you eat at least one meal at Lamberts in Ozark...Great food....

We've stayed at Indian Point COE while in Branson. The sites are nice and right on the water, but the terrain is hilly and getting level can be a chore.

Don't assume that the shows are just at night - most have matinee performances as well as evening shows. Some days we did two shows.
