I took Pat to the Dr. this afternoon and she was diagnosed with pneumonia.  She is currently in the ER and will be admitted to the Hospital as soon as they complete numerous tests on her.

More later!

Well that stinks. Hope they get it under control quickly and she gets all better quick. And you go get a pneumonia shot if you haven't already had one !

Hugs
Wendy

Wow, you two don't need that.  Give her a hug for us and we'll be thinking of her.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, they do help.

Both of us have had the shot so what happened??

We got there just before 4pm and they put her on O2 immediately.  Her color had improved and she was looking a lot better by 8pm.  Lots of tests including a CT scan.  I didn't get a complete briefing on exactly what it was but will tomorrow.  She is very tired because of the coughing but they are working on that too.

I left the hospital about 10:15 and she had already one bottle of an antibiotic and they were just starting another different one when I left.

So things are looking up.

More later.

Jim,

So sorry to hear about Pat's problem. Will pray they get it under control quickly! You both certainly do not need this kind of problem! Please keep us updated as to Pat's progress!!!

Sorry to hear of Pat's problem, Jim. We send warm thoughts and hugs to help both of you through the crisis.

You mention of the shots strikes a chord with us. Nancy & I recently got flu shots and Nancy showed flu symptoms within 4 hours and came down with full blown flu within a day. Pretty well knocked her out for 3 days and residual effects for a week more. Plus I got a mild case from her.  Seems like there is some risk to these shots...

Sending prayers and hugs to both of you and hoping Pat responds quickly to the care and medication.

May she be on the mend now with all the meds.  Take  good care of her. How are you at making  Chicken soup?

BB

Pneumonia... Been there,, Done that,,, Not fun.. May her recovery be swift and full.

No fun when you can't breath and with fluid build up in the lungs. Breathing is a problem.

Betty,

Pretty good but a bit out of practice.  At one time I was a cook for a crew of 8 men.  Problem was that I had to do other work too as well as be the cook.  I got the cooks job because I could do the wiring for a railroad signal cabinet as good as or better than the others and was faster.  I was one of the 2 best cooks on the crew.  We had been taking turns and then the job changed so it was all mine.  I did that for about a year just before I went in the service.

Off to the Hospital in a few!

Jim, we are so sorry to hear of your latest news.  You two just can't get a break.  Our special thoughts to Pat.  We send gentle hugs and hopes for a quick recovery.

Jim,

Sorry to hear about Pat. Praying she has a quick recovery!

How is she doing today?

Since the question was asked and I just got back from the Hospital, here it is:

She is doing better but having problems sleeping due to the coughing.  She has eaten more today than she has probably eaten in the last week.  They have not isolated the bug that is causing the Pneumonia but the combination of antibiotics she is getting are helping.  Heart rate in now in the normal area as is the blood pressure.  Her O2 level in now consistently in the mid 90s but she is still on O2.

So she is making progress albeit very slow.  I don't see her coming home for at least 2 more days, very optimistic estimate.  A more realistic one would be about the end of the week.
