Pennsylvania's Route 6

Has anyone traveled PA's Route 6 (Northern PA)? We will be up in Niagara Falls in late June and was thinking about heading down to PA (Allegheny Forest) and then head east along Route 6.  Any pointers or items to see/stop at?

Kinzua Bridge, Cherry Springs State Park, Lumberman's Museum, PA Grand Canyon to name a few.  We had a cabin right on Rt 6, real nice drive.  What are your interests, wildlife, fishing, scenery, history or other?

Thanks!  We are a family of 5 with 3 young (6/4/2) kids. So some easy to moderate hikes, fishing with the older two, and scenery/views for now.  We will have our TT, so I will find some overnight stops along the way.  Will come back in the future for the more aggressive hikes and history.

Elk herds in Elk County. Benezette is a short drive from Rt. 6. Nice visitor/information center.

At the top of Denton Hill, east of Coudersport, is an easy accessible campground that would put you in the center of a number of attractions.  Many 4 wheelers use it to run a great ATV trail system, but don't worry, the campground controls it well.  Lyman lake has two nice camping areas, but the roads aren't the best for towing with a dirt road from the west or a narrow paved road from the east, but it is doable.  Lyman Lake would be a great place to visit with the kids because of fishing, beach and hiking. Rock Run road from there can take you back to Rt 6 and it has two overlooks, but definitely not one you would use while towing.

Cooke Forest is within shouting distance, along the Clarion River. Plenty to do there...also the Kinzu Resevoir between Warren and Bradford is a good spot. Lots of camp grounds

There is also the Lackawanna State Park in Lackawanna County, near Factoryville.  I live very close to the park, it is a nice place.  Lake for fishing, pool, bike/hiking trails, etc.  There is also Mannings Ice Cream (working farm that makes ice cream).
