Planning a Four-Week RV Trip From North Carolina to Vancouver, BC

We are going from NC to BC at the end of July. This is a spur of the moment trip. We love senic views, wildlife, small towns and good food. Traveling in a 40 ft 5th wheel. This is ofcourse a crazy last minute trip. Suggestions on entry and exit points and good stuff in-between?

so you know,BC Provincial Parks charge an extra $20 per stay (1 night or 14)on top of res. Fee

Vancouver alone is worth the trip. Great food in general and in Vancouver's Chinatown in particular. Plus the sights, like the Millenium Gate and Sun Yat Sen Gardens. I also suggest heading further west to Victoria for a visit the gardens there. You didn't say how long you plan to stay, but I'd also visit Prince George, Prince Rupert, and Stewart (and back across the border into tiny Hyder and the spectacular Salmon Glacier). Eastern BC's provincial parks are also pleasant. You could easily spend a month touring the province. More if you camp multiple days in each area.

And if I traveled all the way to BC, I would not want to miss the fabulous parks at Jasper & Banff, even though most of them are in Alberta rather than MC.

I's suggest a week or so in the Vancouver city & island region, a week or 10 days to loop up around Prince George, Prince Rupert & Steward, and another 7-10 days in eastern BC and the Jasper/Banff region. You can return to the US via I15 thru Montana, another scenic route.

What route are you taking?

Are you planning to cross the United States or are you going to go up into Canada and cross over to British Columbia?

We've covered all the lower 49 states and western Canada. The Canadian Rockies are by far the steepest mountains we have ever climbed.

I have been in the area countless times, but it has all been at least 15 years ago.

I always stayed at the Peace Arch RV Park in Surrey, just south of Vancouver, which was a nice RV Park. I assume still is.

Be sure to have a GPS when you leave, not for going to Vancouver but for getting back. Many signs to Vancouver but nothing for going south and a lot of roads go to rivers with no bridges and stuff like that.

You can guess how I discovered that.
