hey everyone! this past weekend my boyfriend and i bought this beast. it's a 1995 Ford E350, v8, 87k miles, runs great, no rust to speak of. really looking forward to the renovation process and getting on the road come August!

in all of my research, i have basically never seen an RV that looked like this and i'm wondering if anyone out there has and knows anything about what "model" of RV it is? i know that it's possible that it's just a custom job, but that seems unlikely! i love the way the new rig looks, especially the back profile and would love to know as much about it as i can.

thanks!

I don't know, but it's a nice looking motor home. I'm sure others more knowledgeable than me will soon reply. But, let me be the first to welcome you to the Forum. You've joined a friendly and helpful bunch.

I am not sure, bu it looks a lot like a Champion Transtar, though I am not sure they were built that late, all of the ones I know of were from the 1970-80's, and usually had orange and brown accent colors

p.s. try looking up Champion or Firan Telstar, looks like Champion became Firan at some point and the Telstar was the successor to the Transtar

You might need to figure out a different water storage system. I don't think the snowpack on the roof is gonna last through summer - LOL...

Nice looking vehicle. The E350 chassis bodes well from a parts availability standpoint, it's got nice external lines and I am sure you will do a mad good job on the interior.

That E350 body style is usually a shuttle bus, which was an older common style for airports, churches, retirement homes, etc. If you Google "shuttle bus conversion" you'll see all sorts of photos and stories that match that style. However the exterior of yours sure looks like it was an RV from the start! I'd be curious to see the interior too... does it appears that it has "stock" furniture, appliances, cabinets, etc. or more custom like it was someone else's conversion project in the past? I'd be curious to know its story and where you bought it, etc. too. Tell us more! :)

That looks very much like a Firan Telstar - see the examples at the links below.

I've seen those kinds of things before. I call them "projects". In many cases that term transitions to "money pit". Might be fun depending on what shape it's in.

ha! if the snowpack doesn't last i think the 200 gallon water talk under the bed will take care of us!

i wanted to wait until we got the former owner's junk out and did a first deep clean before taking interior pics but i'll be sure to post some after this weekend!

yeah, i'd thought it might've been a former shuttle bus once as well because of the E350 body but the windows placement and the interior (stock cabinets, appliances, & furniture) definitely tell a different story.

based on what others have said and some googling, i'm definitely thinking it's a Telstar by Firan.

we don't know a ton about the history of it other than that it's in great shape! we bought it from a guy who got it from his father. it's lived in Texas, California, and Arizona before coming to Indiana, and i think it's gonna make a wonderful home on wheels for us once we make the interior what we need it to be!

thank you!! that's definitely exactly what it is. thanks so much for helping us figure this out!

Are you sure about the 200? Most rv’s carry between 30 and 40 gallons. Some less and the bigger one’s a lot more.

200 gallons would be a big water tank for a large diesel pusher motorhome, you may want to double check your measurements, 200 gallons of water will weigh over 1,600 pounds, which would likely exceed the cargo carrying capacity of that E-350 chassis.

To expand on what Issac has mentioned........ If the 200 gallon tank (1600 lbs full) is under the bed and the bed is all the way in the back exceeding the rear axle, that's more that 1600 lbs leveraging the rear suspension and the suspension would certainly be showing signs of fatigue if previous owners were filling that tank up and travelling. For that amount of water, the tank should be mounted in between the front and rear axle.

it's a dually.

To beat the dead horse. 200 gal = 26+ cu ft. 2' wide x 2' deep by 6.5 ft long. I suppose it could, but doubtful. You are there, so you should know. Back to the data sheet usually in med chest or back side of cabinet or closet door, maybe closet wall. Should have Gross weight, and capacities.

I am curious if the wheel base has been stretched and/or the frame. The pics might be deceiving and the overhang is long so maybe it's just perspective.
