Think of it like this.  NUT > BOLT > WASHER.  The washer is a rubber gasket that seals against the seat of the faucet valve body.  Turn the water off, pop the cap, unscrew it, and check the condition of the gasket and the seat.  I'd guess the gasket is either folded over on one edge or ripped from over tightening.

I have a 1995 Palomino Mustang pop-up 12 ft box with a shower.  When I hook up to water at a campsite or even when I use the  water pump from the onboard tank, the faucets in the sink leak.  The shower ones do NOT leak in the closed position.  The faucet in the sink always leaks, no matter how tight I tighten the knobs.  Is there hope for this faucet to take apart and replace a seal or gasket or something, or does it need a new faucet?  Any suggestions on the new faucet?  Thanks.

Take the parts to An Ace Hdwe or plumbing retail store and replace the washers, O rihgs and whatever needs to be done.  They are the same as in a house in most cases
