Pump slow to shut off

The water pump in our trailer has begun having some problems.  It is slow to shut off, and there appears to be air in the line (which would account for the slow shutoff).  I cannot seem to purge the air, which is primarily in the cold water line.  I am suspecting an air leak on the input (suction) side of the pump, but that seems like a strange thing to develop.

The trailer is about 13 years old.  Do problems develop with the pickup tube from the fresh water tank to the pump?  If so, that would be an even bigger job, as the tank, slung externally between the frame rails of the trailer, is entirely spray-foamed to winterize it.

Before I tear part of the trailer apart to get past the furnace to look at the pump and its fittings, anyone come across this before?  Any suggestions?

Frank.

Brother Bear:

Finally got a chance to pull the cover off the cold air return and have a look at the pump, nestled in beside the furnace.  Tightening the input line at the pump a tiny bit seems to have solved the problem.

I suspected that this would resolve the issue, but I have no experience with fixing this portion of a trailer.  I was not sure if the pumps develop leaks internally with time and would therefore need replacement, or if there is a filter in the tank that gets plugged with time, or if input lines tend to harden and crack, or what.  That is why I posted here -- to see if there was any common cause to this problem.

In any case, it now seems to work as it should

Frank.
