Since the BLM has had a lot of other things on their plate, they didn’t get around to raising the rates at Quartzsite for this winter. Therefore we can still have the rally as normal. It will officially be 17-25 January 2026 in the Tyson Wash LTVA. Details will be provided when we get there, but it will be somewhere in the southwest corner of Tyson Wash. Show up early if you want; there are usually some of us there. Show up late, and well, you never know. We do have a few planned activities, but everyone is free to attend them or not as they please. We will have a Happy Hour BYOB each day at 6:00 around the fire. This lets those of us who eat dinner have time to do it! Tuesday we will have a women’s get together. Bring your sewing machine, a hand craft, or just sit around and chat. Time TBD. Wednesday we will have some type of 4x4 ride. We won’t do anything too strenuous, but it should be fun. Saturday, 24 Jan, we will have the traditional fabulous potluck. Bring some type of food and your own plate/utensils. Sunday, 25 Jan, we will head to the Desert Bar for lunch and to listen to music.

Cost is only $40 for up to 2 continuous weeks of camping in the LTVA, paid to the BLM volunteers at the contact station. If you stay the season, the price is $180 from 15 Sep - 15 April. A box of wood for the campfire is greatly appreciated, and it is easy to find in town. Note you can re-up your 2 weeks of camping just by paying another fee. If you stay in the LTVA, there are trash dumpsters, fresh water, and a sewer dump available across Hwy 95. There are other camping areas that are free, but they have no services and you have to move every 14 days. There are multiple places in town where you can dump and fill with water at a price. There are also a number of full service campgrounds in town, but they get busy during the show so make reservations early. Some people even stay in Yuma and come up just for one or more of the activities. You don’t have to tell me or anyone else if you are coming, but I do appreciate a heads up. We aren’t rigid though, and I understand that plans change. Kevin has made some really nice RV Forum logo markers for this year to make sure everyone gets to the right place. Hopefully they won’t get stolen the way my little marker flags did last year!

I moved to AZ last spring and plan to be in Quartzsite for the first time next January. Hope to be there for the full week mentioned above.

I have a small 20 ft travel trailer and can't wait to try it out on the first trip.

I'm shopping for a new lithium battery and hoping a 300AH lithium will be plenty for winter use in Quartzsite. Charging with solar and a small inverter gen, if needed.

Thanks

I have it marked in, but not sure yet. Thanks for the mostly unorganizing!

Camper2, depending on your batteries and power use, you will probably be just fine, but the days are short in January for solar to get everything. But as long as you have a generator for backup you will be fine. Hopefully we will have warm sunny days with lots of amp hours!

Thanks for the info... I plan to be well prepared, sitting in the dark with no power is just not for me..

At Quartzsite, does the forum location usually change every year? I was thinking you always used the same area.

The “old site” was really nice which is undoubtably why they decided to use part of it for the sewage lagoons! What makes it worse is that the lagoons aren’t even in use due to the new well not giving enough water to open the new dump stations. Sigh. The government blames the contractor and the contractor blames the government, so it will take quite a while to settle the issue. The “new site” is a bit farther from the entrance and a bit rougher. It will be in the same general place as the last two years within reason, based on who is already camping in the area.

The "new" site has more loose rocks on the surface and a bit smaller in area than the "old" site.. But the group has been smaller lately also.. In the "old days" we would turn out 30 to 40 RVs of all category's,, now down to less than 15 or 20 .. and for shorter stays.>>>Dan

Should I assume that is because this forum has fewer active members?

Why would you assume that? A number of our active members no longer travel long distances, no longer own an RV, or their RVing habits have otherwise changed. e.g. in our case, after many years of traveling around the country by motorhome, we have a 5W at an RV lot in a fixed location, with no desire to own a large truck.

My thoughts exactly.

Meanwhile, back at Quartzsite, we may come for a day or two or ???. IIRC, our first year at Q was 2010. That was a year and a half after we began RVing. We've made some good friends and always enjoy meeting up and visiting.
