I love the Roadside America website.

After planning out my trip with route I plan to take, this is one of my first stops. You can list, or show a map with the locations of the quirky roadside attractions.

I know there have to be other such websites out there. Which is YOUR favorite?

Another one to look up is "Strange".... for example: "Strange Ohio", "Strange Texas", "Strange Nebraska". You'll be surprised at all the strange things you'll discover in your own state, sometimes, just minutes form your own home.

When I first discovered the book "Weird Indiana" I was quickly introduced to the "Weird US" series and their web site. I still have my copy of "Weird Indiana" and it has been my goal to visit every item in that book as my bucket list. That will probably never happen though, but we have gone out of our way to see many, many of them.

Another one is "Roadside America". It's a fantastic resource. Roadside America - Guide to Uniquely Odd Tourist Attractions

When we travel, I always look up "weird" or "strange" or "haunted" where we camping. For us, these out-of-the-way, lesser known attractions are more satisfying then the big-wig, high-profile tourist trap attractions. And most of them are completely free to see.

Like.... this guy, just 5 miles from my home:
