Hey Tom,

That's what you get for a gazillion bucks.  ;D

The PVC contraption I saw did just what the thunbnail pix showed.

Bruce,

I wasn't planning on changing the coach so I could get the gizmos  ;D

Carefree does offer a slide Awning that has a system built in to provide support for the awning while extended.  Don't know what it costs or even if it works.  Not been a problem for us.

If worried about pulling the slide in without first removing the device, then go to an electrical supply house ( or home improvement store) , purchase a key operated electrical switch and then place the key on the device that is holding the awning up. I put one in my TT and place the key on the lock-bar that holds the slide while traveling. That way I don't try to extend it when the bar is in place. The other benefit is that noone operated the slide accidentally thinking that it is the hot water heater switch, or leaning against it. The switch cost me $20, but the slide mechanism or a new awning would certainly cost more.... add to that peace of mind.....
