My wife and I are probably going to buy a new ram 2500. It will easily pull out half ton towable 5th wheel but of course we will need a hitch.

Any reviews of an OEM Ram hitch be something you’d buy at an rv dealer? Price comparisons?

Buy a Curt branded hitch which same as a mopar but way cheaper the a series stands for articulating but the handle is in a wierd spot q stands for quiet. I have an a25 now my last was a q20 i like my a series better

We went with the Curt A16 with the slider. An issue has come up. When I move the slider to the rear position the pin box comes to about two inches from the tailgate. That seems to preclude the use of the slider totally. I’m using the Ram installed floor pucks.

Why? Is something gonna hit with the slider all the way back? Or is the truck suspension sagging too much when all the way back? What I'm saying is, what do you think is wrong with that position?

I’m not hooked up or I’d take a picture. When the truck is straight ahead, and you slide it to the back, the back of the pin box is within a couple of inches of the tailgate. As you turn, won’t that hit the tailgate?

Here’s my Ram short bed. Andersen hitch mounted on a B&W Turnover Ball. I could get close to 90 degrees, but never got into that situation. Yes, the design of the 5’er was a factor.

With mine, when I start out straight, the back of the pin box is within an inch or two of the tailgate

The only way you will know for sure is to hook up, slide it back, and slowly turn while someone watches it. The outside edges of the pin box will come closer to the tailgate when turning but how much closer is a guess until you test it. As long as it does not hit, you should be fine. Uneven terrain could make a difference, though.
