Does anyone  have  clear instructions for armrest removal? Mine don't want to be that compliant when pushing in. Also, it looks like the seat back will need to be removed to slip seat bottom cover onto the bottom seat. Am I correct?

From a different forum:

You push the armrest toward the opposite side (inward) and then move it down to about a 5 o'clock position to release it if it was manufactured before 2001. After 2001 look for an 11 o'clock position.

Raise the arm so it is up.. Put your knee against the pivot point and press it as hard as you can into the chair,, While trying to gently move the arm beyond the full up position toward the rear.. When it "releases" you will know it, Then you simply pull it out.

There are multiple styles of Flexsteel captain's chairs as well, plus driver and passenger types are different in most styles. Quite possibly different methods would apply.

For those with adjustable backs, I think you could slide a cover under the backrest. The backrest on mine (04 vintage, adjustable with lumbar support), you would only have to disconnect the cosmetic flap on the lower-back part of the backrest (3 screws).
