Rear Axle Wheel Cover Nuts for 2002 Holiday Rambler Ambassador

Hello,

I am from Germany and have been driving an American Holiday Rambler motorhome since 2016—a 32ft Ambassador with two slide-outs, a 5.9-liter Cummins engine, and an Allison transmission. It sits on a Roadmaster RM4C chassis. It was built in 2001 and is a 2002 model year vehicle. The motorhome was imported to Germany in 2004 and, following various modifications to meet European standards, was registered there.
Sourcing spare parts from the US isn't always easy, though I’ve managed to get everything I needed so far.
However, I’ve hit a wall with one specific spare part: I’ve spent hours searching online for the right nuts to secure the rear axle wheel covers but haven't found a match. I’ve emailed several US parts dealers, only to be told they couldn't supply the necessary mounting hardware. Most recently, I contacted support at the REV RV Group—which specializes in repairs and parts for Holiday Rambler products—but even they couldn't help and suggested I try US motorhome forums.
I assume there are owners of identical motorhomes in the US, so I’m hoping for some help here—and would gladly accept used mounting nuts, perhaps even from a salvage yard.

This RV was built by the previous Monaco Coach Corporation, which closed under bankruptcy in 2009. Unfortunately we have limited information regarding its construction. We do apologize, but unfortunately we can no longer look up the VIN to find the unit information.

Since our Oregon service center closed, we do not have any former Monaco technicians to assist with questions like this.

If you know what axle you have in the coach, you could try contacting them directly.

You might try salvage yards such as Visone RV https://visonerv.com. There are other RV salvage yards, you would need to do an internet search for them.

You might also try the various online forums (such as www.irv2.com/forums or https://community.fmca.com/ or The RV Forum Community By RV LIFE) which are another resource many RV owners utilize.

Hopefully one of those options will help.

I have received the mounting nuts for the front axle hubcaps; see Photo 1 (left). Photo 3 shows the nuts pressed into the caps: the short one for the front axle on the left, and the long one for the rear axle on the right. Photo 2 shows the rear axle hubcap.

I hope someone here on the forum can help me.

Is the problem that they do not have the proper threads, or what? You can find quite a range of them from Amazon, via the internet.

I received these ones, but they only fit the front axle (short nut); the rear axle requires mounting nuts with longer threads (35 mm)—you can see this clearly in the photos.

Try Country Coach they also went bankrupt years ago but were closely aligned with Monaco back then. They still sell parts and the guys there will know a lot about Oregon coaches

If anyone on this forum has contacts at a salvage yard that has one of these older models, it would be great to get hold of those used nuts. Of course, I would cover all costs, including compensation for the time involved.

I have the same issue. I believe it is the thread pattern. The threads on the one I have are too fine. I need one with fewer threads. My solution was to remove all the beauty rims. Now I just need to paint the rims black.

The ones you ordered from etrailer.com are listed at 32 mm. You mentioned 35 mm - is that the nut depth needed for the longer studs on the rear axle? Do you still have the chrome lug covers so that you could press in a new nut if you had the right size? Or do you meed the entire lug cover with the nut included?

I found this cover online. It has a 1-3/8" depth, which is 35 mm

This company also offers numerous lug nut sizes.

Most hardware/tool stores have thread gauges that will give you the number of threads per inch (or metric), with that and the diameter you should have a better chance searching globally.

Or course you could also knock out the lugs and replace them with the same size as the fronts or any locally available size. This may be a bigger job than you want - but a decent auto/truck shop can do the job - get a price before you hand over the keys!

There is no problem with the threads!

And yes, I need the nuts complete with the cap.

Here are some photos that illustrate my problem (rear axle).
The 22mm nut inside the cap for the front axle is 20mm deep, while the nut inside the cap for the rear axle is 35mm deep.
The caps offered by Etrailer (which I received) contain 20mm-deep nuts; I don't know what the specified 35mm refers to. These caps with the pressed-in nut fit the front axle but not the rear axle.

Why doesn't it fit the rear? The wheel stud on the front axle protrudes 12mm, whereas the rear axle stud protrudes only 6mm; that is why a cap with a longer nut (35mm) is required for the rear axle. Please refer to the photos.
