As for road conditions in general, When I set out from Eastern CO last month, I dropped down to I-70 at Burlington and ran east to St Louis.
Kansas has resurfaced I-70 between Colorado State Line and Topeka. It was beautifully smooth, including bridge transitions. From Topeka to Lawrence it wasn't too bad. And at Lawrence, I dropped down to SR 10 which brought me to the I-435 beltway around South side and back to I-70 near the stadium. From there, it seems that Missouri is now trying to catch up with Kansas, and I-70 is virtually a construction zone all the way to Columbia, MO. It settled down to normal running going into St Louis.
Illinois is also busy re-making the roads on I-64 and 57. It was not until after Paducah, that I found normal road, again.
