what do you guys do to keep your RVs clean.

Do you go inside with shoes and if not whats the procedure? Take them off at the front door but then do what with the shoes?

What 12 volt vacuum do you recommend?

I have no carpet, its vinyl flooring, although its a pain I guess ill have to keep taking off and putting on my shoes at the door, maybe Ill get a plastic tote to keep them in under the camper at night ( keep the insects out )

Want to keep a clean camper and looking for any suggestions.

Put a fluffy rug at the door. The fluff will pick up more debris from your shoes than something rough and short pile. Then don?t take your shoes off unless they are really filthy. We never did on vinyl flooring. We have to do it now because we have ceramic tile, and I miss my vinyl. Then just use a broom followed by a Swiffer mop when needed. The rug you take outside and shake off one or twice a day.

We picked up one of these at Walmart, when I found DW on her hands and knees with a dustpan and whisk broom. She loves it so much, she got one for home, too. I know you asked for 12V, but I had to reply because of how much she loves it. Do you have an inverter? The amp draw on this little beauty isn't much, nor is the price.

I spent most of life living in a culture where shoes always came off at the door so it's a hard habit for me to break. It's more about health than general housekeeping.

I too keep a fluffy washable mat inside the front door and another sturdier mat outside. The inside mat needs a good shaking every day.

If your awning is up and out then the shoes can live outside. A tote works too.

Camco makes a real nice telescoping broom and dust pan.

My motorhome was so small I used a squirt bottle of plain white vinegar and a paper towel to mop the floor with. Might use 2-3-4 paper towels depending on the dirt. I got really good at mopping with my foot. Typically I would mop from one end to the door, then the other end to the door. Then I went outside and walked the dog while the floors dried.

A refillable squirt bottle of vinegar will clean just about everything in the RV including windows. I add a teeny tiny squirt of Dawn to it to give it some lubrication.

If you do a quick sweep daily and wipe down a different section of the RV (bath one day, kitchen another etc.) then it will always resemble cleanliness.

I only make this comment based on something you said on a different thread regarding toilet brushes.

Why would you need cleaning supplies if you wife is not going to be there to use them?....LOL...

X2. Love our vinyl flooring for this reason. A decent broom and dustpan, 1 swiffer wet jet and a washable door mat.
Only additional thing we do is if it's a wet/muddy campsite, we leave a pair of "slides" (slip on flip flops) next to the door to "slide" into if we need to remove shoes when coming in due to mud.

When our vinyl floor split down the middle while in storage and we cut it out and installed Stranded Bamboo flooring.  Best move we have made in upgrading our TT

If you have some good carbide saw blades on a table saw and a good miter saw it is a snap to install.

We have an older version of this.  Use it at home and in the RV.

Even going back to when my RV was a tent, having a mat of some kind at the door even if it was just an old towel really helps from tracking anything in.  Also provides a spot to take off your shoes and leave them if they're especially nasty.  I put a small brush in my wet bay by the outdoor shower just for scrubbing off shoes.  We keep a small 120V vac under the bed and that's all we've needed during outings to take care of indoor cleanup whenever we happen to be running the genset.

I bought a little 1 gallon wet/dry shop vacuum. Works great for nooks and crannies. Good for basements and other outside storage areas. Move the hose to the exhaust port and you got a nice little blower.

My new old 5th wheel has so much carpet and parquet flooring that I bought a robot vac from iRobot which is former Roomba. I named her Rhonda and I make her vacuum every single day.

It's heaven on earth.

My carpets are soft, clean and bouncy. Parquet floor always feels like it was freshly mopped.

I am amazed at how much dirt she finds considering I leave my shoes at the door.

On the other hand I have a busy little doggy who zips in and out to his fenced yard.

I connected 7 portable pet pens to surround my RV in fencing. He loves it!

I've seen where folks make a pen/kennel from those modular sections but never the entire RV.  What system is that?  Trying to picture storing enough of those sections to go all around the RV in the basement.

I am parked long term with a shed so I do not travel with the 7 sections of pet pens. Each pen is 16 feet long and made to connect it to itself, but I just kept connecting it to the next pen and zig zagging the fence around my entire RV. There is about 40 feet of fencing straight across the back of my lot that separates me from the farm.

I have attached the dog pen fencing to both ends of that back fencing as other wise I need 2-3 more 16 foot kits.

I own this RV lot and they have a rule of NO permanent fencing but dog pens are allowed. They didn't specify a limit on dog pens, so that's why I just kept buying and adding on.

Now several other owners in the RV park are doing similar projects. ;)

My doggy had spent 8 years on strings and tethers, he is thrilled to have his freedom now.

My wife keeps a simple wire broom that she uses to sweep off the patio mat and indoors. We also always try to have a machine washable runner down to trap in the dirt. We always try to take it outside and shake it before we head out.
